2015 Favorites~

2015 favs

It’s time for yearly favorites *yay* I don’t do monthly favorites so I had almost forgotten about this year’s favorite post too. So glad I read it over at some other blogs and realized I have enough time to squeeze in a post before 2015 is over.

I believe 2015 went by in a blur and I didn’t get a chance to try out much stuff but when I started looking back at old posts to gather my favorites I was amazed. Damn there was a lot. Without further delay let’s get started.

2015 Beauty Favs

~Beauty~

I realize beauty wise I got around to using quite a bunch of stuff. I got to use two different foundations, different eyeliners, lips, mascaras and what not. Below are my favorites.

Liner – I am still stuck on my Revlon ColorStay Liquid Eye Pen in 01 Darkest Black. I’ve had it since 2014 and it’s still going strong for me.

Mascara – Essence Get Big Lashes Volume Curl has got to be the one for me. Perfect effect without crisping the eyelashes, what else does one want?

Foundation – Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 hr Nude Finish Foundation because it saved me through the horrendous summer we had this year. Thank you, Rimmel, I am forever in debt.

Lip Liner – MAC Beet

Lipstick – MAC Ruby Woo

2015 Skincare Fav

~Skincare~

I’ve been very bad with the whole skincare department this year. I am just glad I picked up The Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Night Treatment as it had helped a lot with blemishes.

~Fragrance~

Spritz wise Victoria’s Secret – Secret Escape Body Mist has been my bae this year and I doubt I will be falling out of love with this one anytime soon.

2015 Books Fav

~Book~

I’ve been failing miserably at completing my goodreads challenge this year but I’ve got a few days in my hand and I hoping I’ll get it done in time. This year there has been just one book that I’ve wanted to reach out again and time again – The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton. I loved it so much. I am linking my review of it so you can read me cry more about it in a detailed post. (CLICK HERE!!) My second favorite was All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven, but I haven’t done a review yet so I was thinking to save it for 2016. Oh well. I am highly recommending these two to everyone I know that includes you too.

That’s about it, guys. I will see you in my next post very soon! 🙂

Much Love,

BEAUTY HAUL ~ Real Techniques Brushes

rt-logo

Core Collection & Blush BrushCopy of Miracle Complexion Sponge

I am having a hard time believing we are in December right now. Where has this year gone really? 😐

I did a haul in October and because November was just one massive blur I am going to share whatever I got in today’s post. I was talking about building basic brushes collection in the start of the year and I had my eyes on MAC mostly but after trying a few of their brushes I was not impressed and decided to look elsewhere. I am still in that stage where I am figuring out if I like makeup for real or will I be abandoning it after a while so I don’t want to get really spendy yet. Real Techniques sounded like a great option for brushes and after reading such rave reviews I thought to give it a go.

The first thing I ordered was their Core Collection. It’s a set of 4 face brushes of different kind. You get a pointed foundation brush, foundation buffing brush, contouring brush and definer brush. I have given them all a go except for the foundation brush and find them nice to use. They have been through a wash too and damn do I have things to say about them. You will just have to wait for a full fledge review, sorry peepz! So far my favorite is the buffing brush. I have read some saying it’s similar to Sigma F80 Flat Kabuki but I don’t own that one yet so I can’t compare. I do have my eyes on it so prolly a comparison will happen someday very soon. 😉

Next I bought two separate brushes – Blush Brush and Powder Brush. They are good too and do what they are meant too.

I would admit one thing; I was expecting the brushes to be super soft and though they were soft but not as soft as I had them in my mind. Sigma and MAC has set my brushes softness standard pretty high, ha.

Then I got one of their Miracle Complexion Sponge. I would sum this purchase up in Chandler’s baffled voice and expressions ‘OH. MY. GOD.’ I mean that. There are so many beauty blenders/sponges around and I never gave them a serious thought but after using this one I want to try every single one from every brand because I truly am blown away by the awesome result. I will do an in depth review soon, promise.

I also got Real Techniques Deep Cleansing Gel (Click here for first impression post!). It cleans the brushes super quick. I have tried it a few times and it’s been great.

So this concludes my haul. In case you’re from Muscat and curious where I got all the above mentioned stuff from, it from an Instagram page @MakeupMedleyMuscat. They have RT stuff at the best prices. They also have other brands that are not easily available in Oman.

I will see you guys in my next post!

Byee ❤

REVIEW ~ Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF 15

Bobbi Brown!! Bobbi Brown!! Bobbi Brown!!

I’ve been attracted to this brand ever since it opened here in Muscat. I wasn’t a huge fan of makeup then and had practically no idea how to apply some but now that I know a few things, the name Bobbi Brown sounds like angels singing in my ears, ha. I would also like to thank Lily Pebbles for deepening my attraction toward Bobbi Brown by writing up a review on Nectar and Nude Collection back in March. I fell completely in love with it. It’s a shame it was out of stock when I went to purchase it and they weren’t planning to restock it any time soon. Anyway!

Bobbi Brown Foundation

I did my first Bobbi Brown shopping a few months back and got myself the Skin Foundation SPF 15. It comes in a 30ml transparent thick blurry glass bottle with a pump and cover in black. I found the bottle extremely classy. Its box was in plain black and had the Bobbi Brown and all the information written in white. Extremely classy yet again.

I got the Skin Foundation SPF 15 in shade Warm Sand 2.5. It’s a tone lighter to my natural skin. I went for a shade similar to my skin but it looked muddy on me hence I went a shade up. The formula is extremely light weight and applies smoothly on the skin. I use my finger tips to spread it. The end result is fantastic. It looks so natural and feels extremely light. It is also very hydrating hence cause no damage to the skin. The coverage is medium but it blurs out your blemishes and any other imperfections quite well. Contrary to some reviews, I actually found it can be built up. Though I prefer not doing that and instead use a concealer to hide any leftover spots. Its lasting power is amazing. It gave me straight 13 hours without unsettling or going greasy on my face. I was over the moon.

When I was on the hunt for the perfect foundation I was looking for something non greasy, light weight and with a good lasting power. I was beyond happy when Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation turned out to be exactly that. At OMR 25.750, it was pricey for someone who survives on pocket money but when I saw the results, I was glad I didn’t go for any other brand. I would have hated buying something expensive and it not being what I wanted.

Another thing I would like to add is, the staff was ever so helpful and friendly and advised me well on what foundation I should go for. They applied it for me in the store and also gave me great tips on what concealer I should go for and brushes I should use.

I would advise anyone out there who is just about as much awkward and shy to ask questions when buying things as me, to get talking to the sales person. Most of them don’t bite, trust me. They are in a better position to help you. Another advice, if you are investing in a high end product, try it as many time as you want till you are not sure you are ready to buy it. It’s okay. I used to pick up products by trying them just once and after purchasing and using them I used to get disappointed. Then I became ‘fearless’ (yes, fearless because it takes a lot of courage to ask the intimidating sales people questions and try products out with them looking at you) and started trying things out in the shop every time I used to go to the mall. I bought the foundation I guess on my fifth trip to the store and trust me nobody killed me for it. So, try and test a couple of times before you buy something.

I loved my experience of shopping at Bobbi Brown. I can’t wait to go back and shop again as I have my eyes on its Creamy Concealer Kit. I just need to save up a lot of money before I do so, ha. 😀

Who is a Bobbi Brown fan here?! Let me know in the comments below! 🙂

Have a good day ya’ll! 🙂

Love,

~F x
