BEAUTY HAUL ~ Real Techniques Brushes

Core Collection & Blush BrushCopy of Miracle Complexion Sponge

I am having a hard time believing we are in December right now. Where has this year gone really? 😐

I did a haul in October and because November was just one massive blur I am going to share whatever I got in today’s post. I was talking about building basic brushes collection in the start of the year and I had my eyes on MAC mostly but after trying a few of their brushes I was not impressed and decided to look elsewhere. I am still in that stage where I am figuring out if I like makeup for real or will I be abandoning it after a while so I don’t want to get really spendy yet. Real Techniques sounded like a great option for brushes and after reading such rave reviews I thought to give it a go.

The first thing I ordered was their Core Collection. It’s a set of 4 face brushes of different kind. You get a pointed foundation brush, foundation buffing brush, contouring brush and definer brush. I have given them all a go except for the foundation brush and find them nice to use. They have been through a wash too and damn do I have things to say about them. You will just have to wait for a full fledge review, sorry peepz! So far my favorite is the buffing brush. I have read some saying it’s similar to Sigma F80 Flat Kabuki but I don’t own that one yet so I can’t compare. I do have my eyes on it so prolly a comparison will happen someday very soon. 😉

Next I bought two separate brushes – Blush Brush and Powder Brush. They are good too and do what they are meant too.

I would admit one thing; I was expecting the brushes to be super soft and though they were soft but not as soft as I had them in my mind. Sigma and MAC has set my brushes softness standard pretty high, ha.

Then I got one of their Miracle Complexion Sponge. I would sum this purchase up in Chandler’s baffled voice and expressions ‘OH. MY. GOD.’ I mean that. There are so many beauty blenders/sponges around and I never gave them a serious thought but after using this one I want to try every single one from every brand because I truly am blown away by the awesome result. I will do an in depth review soon, promise.

I also got Real Techniques Deep Cleansing Gel (Click here for first impression post!). It cleans the brushes super quick. I have tried it a few times and it’s been great.

So this concludes my haul. In case you’re from Muscat and curious where I got all the above mentioned stuff from, it from an Instagram page @MakeupMedleyMuscat. They have RT stuff at the best prices. They also have other brands that are not easily available in Oman.

I will see you guys in my next post!

MAC Lip Pencils Review And Why You Should Get Them

DSC06845 label

DSC06846 l

Makeup is an expensive hobby to keep especially if you love trying new stuff like me. I would invest in basic things (according to me) like foundation, blush, lipstick and kohl, but if you ask me to invest in things like mascara, eyeliner, lip pencils, lip gloss, bronzer I would be a little reluctant. But give me a product that’s a multi-tasker and then we’re talking.

A few blog posts back I mentioned getting MAC Lipstick Ruby Woo as a present and how I would never buy one because of the price tag. RO 9.275 for one lipstick, seriously? Not happening. Fast forward to a few months and my hopeless attempts at applying Ruby Woo perfectly on my not so defined lips. I had no idea how to make it work and the idea of getting a lip liner wasn’t something that would happen with me because lazy AF. I don’t use a hair conditioner after shampooing my hair, what makes you believe I would use a lip liner to define my lips before I apply a lipstick. No I don’t care my lips need them. I would never go that extra mile for anything. Also, they are always almost the same price of a lip stick which seems unfair to me.

Ruby Woo lip pencil hit the market a bit back. I really wanted the lipstick to look good on me, so I went to the store, swatched it, and bought it. MAC Lip Pencil in Ruby Woo has the same deep red shade as the lipstick. The pencil has a defined tip and glides on the lip’s line perfectly to give you your desired result. Putting on lipstick after that has been an easy peasy task. It looks so well done, ha. The best thing about it is its creamy formula. Some days I use it as a lipstick if Ruby Woo lipstick is being too dry.

My MAC Lip Pencil love affair didn’t end there. Last year just around autumn/winter, I swatched a few lip liners from MAC and there were some brown shades I really liked. I was kind of sure I would get them but I have been obsessed with bold lips recently and I ended up buying MAC Lip Pencil in Beet. It’s a berry toned/magenta shade and I absolutely love it. It has the same creamy formula and because I don’t really have a lipstick to go with it yet, I apply it all over my lips and it looks fab.

Now a lip pencil range that has amazing nude and vibrant shades, is creamy and can be worked on as a lipsticks too, is available and you don’t avail the opportunity to use it, would be a very sad thing, really! Do I say it’s worth the money? It so is.

Let me know in the comments below if you try some or if you have a favorite one already. Also, I would love it if you suggest some other lip pencils to me. I heard Maybelline came out with a new range. Need to check them myself.

Thanks for reading, guys! 🙂

The New Things + First Impression #2

Processed with VSCO with a5 preset

I recently did a spot of shopping and picked a few things I wanted from a while.

1 – Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara – Waterproof (RO 6.800)

I mentioned this in my last wish list. I wanted to buy new mascara and and settled for Maybelline Lash Sensational because of the raving reviews it’s been getting. I got it on offer from Center Point. You get Maybelline’s Lasting Drama 24H Automatic Gel Pencil for free when you purchase Lash Sensational mascara.

I have used it a couple of times. It’s truly waterproof and doesn’t come off from normal cleanser. I think you would need a proper eye makeup remover. I found it a little clumpy but it settles after a while. I am still testing it out and am undecided how I really feel about this product but hopefully by the time I do a review I would have a clearer idea.

2 – Real Techniques Deep Cleansing Gel for Makeup Brushes (RO 8.000)

Yes!!! I finally have it!!! *happy dance*

I have been after this cleanser from a bit and I am so happy to finally have it. I tested it just once and I am very impressed by the result. It didn’t even take me two minutes to clean my brushes and they came out squeaky clean, super soft and no shedding. I am going to try it a couple more times over the weeks and will report back. Though let me just tell you guys, I am already in love with it.

I would like to give a huge shout out to ‘Makeup Medley Muscat’ for arranging this cleanser for me. Thank you so much!! If you’re from Muscat and are looking for someone who can get you not easily accessible brands and products, I would recommend MMM. They are really friendly, helpful and suggestions are always welcomed. I am linking their Facebook page and Instagram below. Let them know if you’re visiting their page because of my blog. 🙂

A Bit of Shopping

So I have been buying a few random bits from a few months so I thought I’d do a collective haul when I have enough of them because I realized I haven’t done one in a while. I have given all the things a go already so this is more of a haul/first impression post.

Starting from bath, after getting Nature’s Extract Foam Bath in Aloe and loving it, I went back to Marks & Spencer and got another one in Water Lily (RO 2.000). It smells heavenly and works so well with the skin leaving it soft, smooth and extremely silky. It has become a staple in my stash.

I mentioned in one of my last skincare post that I wanted to add a few items in my skincare routine. I went to The Body Shop to buy their Aloe Serum and Vitamin E Eye Cream but ended up buying Seaweed Clarifying Night Treatment (RO 2.400) and Elder Flower Unperfumed Eye Gel (RO3.300). The Seaweed Night Treatment is amazing for acne. I will write a detailed post very soon. The Eye Gel is fine so far and helps lighten the dark circles but it’s not that brilliant. I’ll let this one pass.

Makeup wise I’ve been loving the brand Bourjois a lot. They have some really cool stuff. I purchased their blusher in Golden Rose (RO 5.400) which is all sorts of pink with a touch of gold but extremely subtle heaven. I am so tempted to just go to Bourjois counter and buy all their blushes because they perfect!! Next I bought their Bronzing Powder (RO 7.120* in sale). I don’t know if it comes in different shades because I have just spotted one pack. This is perhaps the loveliest bronzer I have tried. I wanted to get The Body Shop honeycomb bronzer but it was too dull. Bourjois one gives your face a proper glow. Super love it.

I wanted to get back into the whole mascara game. I tried one from Max Factor but my eyes are not used to the crispy feeling yet. I was looking for less crispy/gentle mascara. I went to Essence counter and tried their Get Big Lashes Volume Curl (RO 1.200). I have been enjoying this mascara a lot. It gives your lashes a proper curl and keeps them in place but doesn’t go extremely crispy. Definitely something I will repurchase. I think Essence has other mascara too so I’ll proper need to check them out too.

Detailed review for these products will be coming up soon in the coming days so stay tuned! 🙂

Leme know what you liked the most in the haul. My favorite has got to be products from Bourjois ❤

HAUL ~ The Body Shop Haul Review

Copy (2) of 20140517_131021

Copy of 20140517_131603

I did a The Body Shop Haul post a few months back that was in two parts (The Body Shop Haul – Part 1/2 & The Body Shop Haul – Part 2/2) and had my initial reaction to the products. I am writing a full review on those products now.

1- Peppermint Cooling Foot Lotion

Initially I liked this product and for the first few days it kept my feet cool for quite some hours but later it used to stay cool for first half hour or less and then my feet will be just smooth. I guess in the start my feet were just hungry to get something to nourish them. My heels are always on fire kind of a thing and I was really hoping this product is its fix but it wasn’t, though I did find something that helped. 😀

2- Seaweed Clarifying Toner

My reaction hasn’t changed for this toner. It is really good. It goes on the skin smoothly, sinks in quickly and you can’t even feel it on your skin unless you relate it to the tingling feeling you get when you apply it. It smells so good. I totally love this toner and apply it once I remove my makeup, before I apply my The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil and after I wash my face after a long day.

3- Strawberry Body Butter

Not only has this product proven to be amazing on the body but also on my feet. Yes, this is the product keeping my feet cool. You need to give it some time to sink in first but once it does it keeps your feet cool quite a long time.

4- White Musk Shower Gel

I didn’t like White Musk’s smell at first but I have started liking it a lot now. It’s not your typical female scent. It is quite masculine and perfect for tomboyish girls. Though the smell does not last very long of these shower gels but they are good products to use as they leave your washroom smelling good, ha.

5- Japanese Cherry Blossom Shower Gel

This has got to be my most favorite smell ever from The Body Shop. It’s just so amazing and even though I have a very short span of attraction to products this one has passed the test of time for me. I love using this in my pamper routine and after a hard workout. I really want to know if any of you love this smell as much as I do.

6- Japanese Cherry Blossom Body Lotion

I bought it because of the smell only and this mini bottle stays in my handbag now. It’s not creamy but very liquidy. It smells amazing but doesn’t leave your hand very moisturized which is a negative for me. I wash my hands too often due to which they become very dry and so I prefer using hand creams that are really hydrating.

7- Cocoa Butter Lip Care Stick

I have never liked the idea of a lip balm but this has totally changed my opinion on them and now I see myself stocking up on as many different lip balms as I can from every store. This is a very cool thing to apply to your lips before you use your lipstick. It keeps your lips hydrated under it. It lasts really long and is my companion in office on my no makeup days. Plus winter is coming and I cannot recommend you a better product. It smells and tastes (yes!) amazing and lasts a very long time. Though don’t go overboard with it by layering it too much because it tends to go greasy that way. One or two layer will do.

Do let me know if you’ve tried any of the above products and how was your experience with them.

Please don’t be a silent reader and leave a comment or two if like/dislike what you read.

Have a good day, guys! 🙂

A Bit of Shopping

Hieee Guyss!!

I have recently discovered I can’t be left alone in the mall with my wallet for even five minutes. I have become a shopaholic. Yes, I do tend to think (read over-think) and contemplate a million times before I buy something (and later sometimes regret why I bought it) but I’d still shop.

I went to buy myself a pair of trainers last month and I have no idea how this all happened (VS had a really good offer I had to avail it of course!! He he) Following are some things that’s been on my wishlist from a really long time.

1- Trainers

I’ve been looking for a pair of gorgeous but sturdy shoes that would be compatible with workout as well as walking/running/jogging. I’ve been obsessed about the idea of owning a pair of Nike so I gave in and got myself these Air Free 5.0. Best thing about these, they can be worn with casual clothing as well.  Expensive as hell but I do hope these last me a really long time.

z Bobbi Brown

2- Foundation

Foundation is such an important part of a person’s makeup. I previously owned Maybelline 24hr Superstay foundation in a shade that didn’t go with my complexion. I actually picked it in a wrong shade. I didn’t wanted to go back and buy the same one in another complexion because 1) I wasn’t satisfied with its application and 2) I wanted to try something else and then came Bobbi Brown. I bought the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Even Finish Foundation SPF 15 in Warm Sand 2.5. I am totally in love with it. It is so light on the skin and really lasts a long time. A detailed review will be up soon in the coming weeks so look out for that! 🙂

Copy of IMG_20140919_175421

3- Scent

With my Cabotine and CH 212 VIP almost ending, I am looking for new perfumes. I think body mists is such a good idea as they are cheaper than the perfume and come handy in making a decision if you want to buy a certain perfume. I am in love with Bombshell in Bloom and want to be certain if I want to buy the perfume hence taking the body mist on a test drive, ha. Angel smells equally nice. To me it smells like Jimmy Choo Flash. Not sure if I want to buy Angel perfume but Bombshell in Bloom is definitely making it to my wishlist.

(The offer  was too good. Buy one body mist and get the  other free. It’s a permanent offer here in Oman. Its on the big bottles too. The variety is superb)

20140919_173939 --

4- Face Powder

I lost my beloved unbranded pressed powder while we were shifting. It was my absolute favorite and now it was time to replace it. I picked up Rimmel Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed Powder in 01. Let me be honest with you. The crown on the powder is the reason I bought it. I love crowns/tiaras. (I sound like Amy from The Big Bang Theory here)

20140919_171405 --

5- Candles

Giving scented candles a go. I actually like the pot and oil thing more but candles are easier lol. Got this from Lifestyle in Lavender and I would just say I am rather disappointed. The smell is too faint and unless and until you are sitting too close to the candle, you can’t really smell it. I think I will stick to Adore. Adore is a little more in price but so worth it.

That’s all there is to the haul. I hope you had fun going through the post.

Please don’t be shy and leave a comment or two and let’s interact! 🙂

A Bit of Shopping

Hello people!

Hope everyone is doing well. I am doing okayish. Just very uninspired these days and my routine is messed up too. I have been waking up really late around 4pm or 2pm and that’s very annoying for me as I miss out on almost all the day and I cannot really do much in the evenings or late at night. Also, because I take pictures in sunlight I don’t have any good pictures for the blog anymore so please bare with these dull pictures. Moving on…

I went shopping two weeks back. It was more of a restocking kind of a trip but I did buy a few new things I liked and wanted to try.

1- Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser (RO 3.390)

Ha, ever since I saw it being promoted on Facebook a few months back I had been crazy about it. It must be the color that caught my attention I guess because lately I have liked pink for a change because usually I don’t prefer pink. I prefer blue over it. I prefer blue over anything anyway, haha. I am actually trying it to compare to the previous cleanser I was using that’s Olay Milk Cleanser. Let’s see how well this one goes with my skin. So far the smell is making me fall in love every day. It’s just amazing.

2- Marks & Spencer Aloe Vera Exfoliating Body Scrub (RO 2.5)

So I was researching some good facial scrubs when I read something about how important it is to scrub your body as well to remove dead skin cells. I was rummaging through Marks & Spencer beauty section and that’s when I spotted this and it reminded me of that article. This smells incredible too. I have a rough patch below my neck that might be dead cells probably. Will see how well this scrub works for that area.

3- L’Oreal Elvive Total Repair – Repairing Mask with Serum (RO 3.610)

My hair is undernourished. I only use shampoo on it, oil it once in a blue moon and I have pretty much damaged them a lot by using heat equipments and dyeing them, so yap you can really imagine their state. I am trying to take care of them now and I thought I need to add a hair mask in my hair care routine. I tried it for a week. It went quite well but I am not done experimenting with it as yet. You will hear from me very soon about this product in a review.

4- Vaseline 24hr Nourishing Lotion in Aloe Vera (RO 1.160)

This was a repurchase. I had been using this body lotion ever since it came out. It soaks in real well and quick without leaving any residue or greasiness. It is my must-have and go-to body lotion most days. Though I just use it for my hands and arms, I do sometimes apply it to my feet and legs. Love this and would recommend it to everyone.

5- Essence XXXL Shine Lip Gloss in 022 Nude Kiss (RO 1.3)

Essence is one brand I am trying these days. I like their products quality and of course the affordable prices. This is the first lip gloss I am trying of theirs. This is a dull pink more like tea pink and it goes sheer on my lips because mine are the same color. So far I’ve wore it once but I will be wearing it more often for a better review.

6- The Body Shop – Born Lippy Pot Lip Balm in Strawberry (RO 2.1)

So I wanted to try a pot lip balm and I am so glad I went for The Body Shop Born Lippy in Strawberry. I am in love with the smell, taste and texture so far. Best buy I would say.

This is everything I got. Review of these products will be up as soon as I am done experimenting. If anything from my shopping list went into yours too, do let me know. If you have posted about your shopping list, do link it below. I would love to read and add a bit of something to my next trip, hehe. If you have any questions you can always tweet me. My twitter is linked below or you can also find it by clicking on the Social Media page at the top.

Till next time,

Love yourself often and enough!

The Body Shop Haul – Part 2/2

Today I will continue with the second part of my haul from The Body Shop. If you haven’t already read the first one, I will link it here.

In addition to the last three products, I bought four more. 2 shower gels and a body lotion in small size and a lip stick.

Copy of 20140517_131603

1-      Japanese Cherry Blossom Shower Gel (2.3)

I can easily say this is my favorite fragrance amongst all TBS products. The smell is exotic and refreshes you instantly. The shower gel in particular leaves the skin clean, soft and smooth but does not leave the body smelling of it which according to me is a negative.

2-      Japanese Cherry Blossom Body Lotion (RO 3.2)

Japanese Cherry Blossom Shower Gel followed by Japanese Cherry Blossom Body Lotion is a good option to get your skin to smell exotic. The body lotion is quickly absorbed by the skin and makes it smell so very good. I am definitely in love with the fragrance. I will most probably buy it again and its perfume too but not the shower gel.

3-      White Musk Body Wash (RO 2.3)

White Musk is similar to Japanese Cherry Blossom Shower Gel. It smells of talc though and yet again does not leave your body smelling of it. I have tried using it in big proportion too. No effect yet.

4-      Cocoa Butter Lip Care Stick (RO 2.8)

The skin on my lips is breaking far too much now and my lips are getting dark. TBS lip sticks are so praised I thought to give it a try. The Cocoa Butter Lip Care Stick tastes so good, Hahaha. But I did not have much problem in restraining myself from licking my lips too much. The skin on my lips has stopped breaking but their color remains dark. I need to find a fix for that.

I hope you enjoyed my TBS haul post and that it might help you in picking a few products when you visit TBS now. Let me know if you pick something you would like to recommend me from there.

Until next time,

F x

The Body Shop Haul – Part 1/2

I have loved The Body Shop from quite a few years now but from a distance. I was always too afraid that it will be pricey and I will leave the shop sad. My brother urged me to go and just have a look saying, stop assuming everything from a good brand is expensive. So taking his advice I went to TBS and realized dammit it is not really that expensive and the product quality seems good.

Last week I did a TBS haul from Qurum City Center. They had a buy 2 get 1 free offer. The product with the lowest price among the three would be free. I guess it’s a permanent offer because when I inquired the salesperson did say yes it is. Though since yesterday TBS has 50% off sale and I guess it does not include 2+1 offer.

The products are small sized fit for carrying in a handbag or traveling and really helpful if you are new to the shop or are in mood of trying different products at an affordable price. I shopped from this scheme only and I am pretty satisfied.

Anyway, I have divided the haul in two parts. The next one will follow soon. I hope you enjoy this post. 🙂

Copy (2) of 20140517_131021

1-      Peppermint Cooling Foot Lotion (RO 2.5)

The weather in Muscat is getting hotter day by day and has reached 40 degrees already. My heels are on fire due to all this heat. I was looking for a foot cream that will help me fight it.

Peppermint lotion is simply the best. It keeps the feet cool all day long, soft and smooth. It is non greasy and smells super good. I would recommend it to everyone.

2-      Seaweed Clarifying Toner (RO 2)

I have read about the importance of a toner in a skincare routine on so many blogs recently. I am not an expert in makeup and it’s only recently I started using it so I did a little bit of research.

“Facial toner can soak up excess oil and remove dirt, makeup and dead skin cells from your face; restore your face’s pH balance; condition and moisturize your skin; and prepare your skin for better absorption of skin care products that are applied to the face immediately after the toner.”  source

Seaweed Clarifying Toner is amazing. It goes with both combination and oily skin type. It is so light on the skin you don’t even feel it. I would recommend it to anyone who doesn’t like the feel of anything on their face (like I do) when they use a product. I follow this toner with Olay Essentials Moisturizer.

3-      Strawberry Body Butter (RO 3)

This is the most common product by TBS. I heard it is very dense and sinks in slow that is why i was reluctant to buy it. But once i used it, I knew it was worth the wait. It does take a little bit extra time but leaves your skin feeling super soft.

It smells amazing too. I have smelled other body butters by TBS but nothing has attracted me more than the strawberry one. It smells delicious. Yes, no kidding.

Previously they only had them in large sized containers (RO 9) and knowing myself I wouldn’t even be able to use half of it. Now these small sized products are super cute, easy to get done with and take along anywhere.

A big thumbs up to all these products.

Do you like The Body Shop? If not, what other brand do you prefer over it? Have you tried any products I mentioned above? Did you like them? Would you recommend me other products from TBS?

Thank you for reading!

Until next time, Babyeee 🙂
