A Bit of Shopping

The New Things + First Impression #2

Processed with VSCO with a5 preset

I recently did a spot of shopping and picked a few things I wanted from a while.

1 – Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara – Waterproof (RO 6.800)

I mentioned this in my last wish list. I wanted to buy new mascara and and settled for Maybelline Lash Sensational because of the raving reviews it’s been getting. I got it on offer from Center Point. You get Maybelline’s Lasting Drama 24H Automatic Gel Pencil for free when you purchase Lash Sensational mascara.

I have used it a couple of times. It’s truly waterproof and doesn’t come off from normal cleanser. I think you would need a proper eye makeup remover. I found it a little clumpy but it settles after a while. I am still testing it out and am undecided how I really feel about this product but hopefully by the time I do a review I would have a clearer idea.

2 – Real Techniques Deep Cleansing Gel for Makeup Brushes (RO 8.000)

Yes!!! I finally have it!!! *happy dance*

I have been after this cleanser from a bit and I am so happy to finally have it. I tested it just once and I am very impressed by the result. It didn’t even take me two minutes to clean my brushes and they came out squeaky clean, super soft and no shedding. I am going to try it a couple more times over the weeks and will report back. Though let me just tell you guys, I am already in love with it.

I would like to give a huge shout out to ‘Makeup Medley Muscat’ for arranging this cleanser for me. Thank you so much!! If you’re from Muscat and are looking for someone who can get you not easily accessible brands and products, I would recommend MMM. They are really friendly, helpful and suggestions are always welcomed. I am linking their Facebook page and Instagram below. Let them know if you’re visiting their page because of my blog. 🙂

REVIEW ~ Clean & Clear Deep Action Refreshing Gel Cleanser (Oil-Free)

Processed with VSCO with a5 preset

Clean & Clear is a drugstore skincare brand. I used to love it as a teenager. Whatever minimum skincare routine I had, it was all from there. As I grew up my skin’s needs changed and I started trying other brands. Recently when my Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser (Click here to read my review on it) was almost finishing I got a little panicked. I usually get backups for all my products well in time but this time around with cleanser I had no idea which one to get next. I thought to repurchase Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Cleanser only but on my way to get it I spotted a gel cleanser by Clean & Clear and after much contemplation picked it up instead.

Clean & Clear Deep Action Refreshing Gel Cleanser (Oil-Free) comes in a 150 ml transparent bottle and has a purple pump. The product is of gel consistency and green in color. Its smell reminds me of detergent and it’s strong.

This cleanser works really nice. I find it gentle on my skin. I use it most mornings before my face wash. It instantly cleans the face of any oiliness or product from last night leaving a pretty clean slate for my face wash. The best thing about it is the way it tingles the skin. It feels so nice and cool. It’s like a jolt of freshness.

It is pretty great with removing makeup too. I don’t purchase makeup removers so any cleanser that helps taking my makeup off completely is always well appreciated. However it doesn’t take off waterproof mascara. I have also noticed if I use it alone sometimes, my skin gets very dry. But as long as I am applying a moisturizer after it, I am all good.

If you are a teenager, this would be a great product for you to use after school or any time in between the day whenever you feel your skin has a lot of dirt or oiliness on it after a game session or some similar activity. It works nicely for adults too. I use it anytime I feel my skin has gone unbearably oily.

I got this cleanser from Lulu Hypermarket Seeb. It was for RO 1.890. Compared to any other drugstore brand, Clean & Clear’s cleanser is half the price and I think it’s pretty good.

REVIEW ~ Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Nude Foundation with SPF 20

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

I have been crying about Muscat’s hot weather in almost every post since April and let me just do that once again. Our summer was horrendous this year reaching 50+ degrees. It was too hot to even breathe outside or have a comfortable life inside the house. I wilted away all these months cocooned indoors whereas all I really wanted this summer was some quality beach time. boo hoo!!!

With such ‘amazing’ weather came the unpredictable makeup issue. I thought I had it under control because my skincare routine was going great and my Maybelline Fit Me foundation was doing amazing until my face became an oil zone – literally. My makeup was being such a problem and my foundation would just never stay on for more than two hours. That’s when I decided to try a new drugstore foundation and I had Rimmel in my mind. I wasn’t sure which one of their ranges to go for because I tried some of their foundations and wasn’t much impressed. Then one day I visited Top Note in Lulu Hypermarket Seeb and saw a great deal on Rimmel Lasting Finish range and bought it on a whim.

Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hr Nude SPF 20 comes in a round transparent glass bottle with a round white slanted cap that has the Rimmel logo on top. It has a pump red in color to extract the product. Pumps are always a plus with me because they make getting the product out of the bottle easy and hygienic. I doubt the bottle is as sturdy as Maybelline Fit Me but then again I did not get a chance to throw it on the tiled floor of my room yet (and I really hope it never comes to that).

Rimmel Lasting Finish is one foundation that does everything it claims. It has a medium coverage that can be built up; a process that I really don’t prefer with any of my foundations because I don’t like the constant reminder that something is on my face. It is of creamy consistency, a satin texture and its formula ensures your skin is hydrated under all that makeup. It is light weight and blends effortlessly. It blurs the spots but not completely so it seems like you don’t have much of anything on. The best thing however about this foundation is that it does NOT budge in hot weather. The line up there that says its ‘sweat, heat and humidity proof’ is very true. I have had it on for more than 8 hours in all that 50+ heat and it stayed and so did all of my makeup. A very big thumbs up to Rimmel for achieving this very impossible task.

I have it in shade 100 ivory. One full pump of product alone is enough to cover all of your face and neck. I take two small pumps of it and that does it for me. It applies well with both a brush and fingers. Its creamy consistency gives you some time to fix it before it settles in completely. It has a strong smell to it that takes a little getting used to but it doesn’t stay for long after you have applied it. I have not noticed any transfer of product while using it so that’s always great. Another thumbs up, Rimmel, my friend.

Super Tip: if you are applying this foundation with a brush, make sure you wash it every week because it can take some time to get it off those bristles especially if your brush hasn’t been washed for two or more weeks. #guilty

There are a few things I want to let you guys know. Give this foundation a little time to settle in if you have fair/desi skin. When I started using it I would freak out every time because I would find it too white on my face. I have fair skin but there is no way I would ever want to leave the house looking like I just dipped my face in a huge bowl of white powder. I wanted to return it after the first time I tried it but after using it for a few times I realized it takes a little time for this foundation to settle on your face and then it’s all awesome. So 10 to 15 minutes and it will look fabulous. Another thing, they have very limited range of shades so keep your fingers crossed when you go to pick yourself a bottle. If you really love the formula and are not a lazy bum like me, I would suggest buying two shades and mixing them to create your shade.

Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Nude Foundation has been my summer savior and I love it for that. The weather is changing here in somewhat autumn now. I am still enjoying this foundation and looking forward to how well it will work in the winter if it gets cold.

Until next time,

Ciao! 🙂

FOTD ~ Autumn Edition

I don’t do Face of the Day posts often because I don’t usually switch up my makeup that much but with the slight change in Muscat’s weather and lots of autumnal feels coming my way through YouTube and Instagram, I was feeling excited and decided to do my makeup a bit differently. Most of the products I am using are stuff I bought recently and haven’t spoken about yet on the blog but they will be up soon, doncha worry! 😀

Starting off, I have been trying a primer. It is Rimmel Lasting Finish Primer. I haven’t tried any before so I don’t really have much to compare it with. I use it before applying my foundation and I have noticed it does keep most of my makeup in place for a long time. I don’t wear it that often but whenever I do, it been a good experience.

Next is a new foundation I’ve been trying. It is Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hr Nude with SPF 20. This one has been amazing on my skin. As the summer was horrendous this year and my face was basically being an oil zone, this foundation gave me a medium to full coverage and lasted as the name suggests for a whole day without budging. Our autumn is going to be summer only but a little less sweaty so I am sticking with this foundation. I take a pump of it and spread it all over my face using my fingers tips. I am being super lazy so my face brush is getting a bit of time off this season.

I am not doing anything special with the cheeks except bronzing them. I have picked up my favorite Bourjois Delice de Poudre Bronzing Powder in shade 51. It brings such a radiant glow to the face. Bronzers send off such autumnal vibes and in my opinion this one is the best so far. I use MAC 168 to do my cheeks and later take it up my forehead and down my jaw line. This is perhaps my most favorite step and this brush from MAC is meant for it.

I picked up NYX Show Girl eye shadow recently and that’s all I have been using this past week. I love it so much. It is such a beautiful shade of copper and it makes my eyes look so pretty. I use my MAC 217 and swipe the color all over my lid and that’s about as much as I can do with an eye shadow or an eye shadow brush. 😛

I am skipping mascara and eyeliner these days and have been using just a kohl liner for my waterline.

Finally for lips I am going bold and what better bold than red. My sister in law got me MAC Ruby Woo for my birthday (I am sorry I haven’t blogged about it in 4 months) and I have been using it on end ever since. I doubt I am ever taking it off.

What makeup products are you using this season? Let me know in the comments below! 🙂

PS – Please don’t feel shy in commenting and talking. I love to read what you guys are up to too. 🙂

Eyeing Some Drugstore Beauts! x

Drugstore Wishlist - famtaq

Guys, we are just two days away from October… what?! Where did most of the year go? 😐 Let me know if you have any idea!

I compiled a wish list for today’s post. I went to Center Point a while back and saw so many things I liked.

1- Blue eyeliners are having a major moment right now and if you know me at all you would know how obsessed I am with the color blue. Maybelline is doing some of the best blue eyeliners. They have a liquid pen liner, pencil liner and kajal. I have tried all of them. The liquid pen gets the job done in one stroke, the pencil liner has a lasting texture and the Kajal is plain gorgeous. I can’t decide which one to pick and which one to drop (so I might buy them all).

2- I am into Mascaras a lot these days. I love my Essence Get Big Lashes mascara but I will be finishing it soon so to replace it I have two options. I am curious about Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara as almost every blogger/youtuber is raving about it so that’s one.

3- I also had my eyes on Max Factor mascaras especially their Masterpiece Transform from a while now. Let’s see which one I pick. (Pretty sure I am picking both!)

4- I am not really that crazy about eye shadows but ever since I have seen NYX Show Girl I can’t really think about anything else. It’s a pot of copper goodness. I can’t wait to try it on my lids. I’ll prolly be sweeping it all over. Totally in love with this shade.

5- Bourjois is slowly becoming my favorite brand. I already have a blush from them in Golden Rose and love it. I swatched Love Struck Rose and have been dreaming about it ever since. It will be an impulse purchase if I get it.

6- I haven’t really stopped talking about Bourjois Rouge Velvet Lipstick ever since it came here. I have tried one of their bold shades – pink. Pros; the finish is matte and pretty. Cons; It doesn’t go opaque in 1/2/3 go, smells a bit weird and feels like you have oil on your lips. Not sure if I will buy it but I will try the red one. If it is any good I surely will.

What’s on your wish list these days?!

Edit Note: Center Point Muscat is offering Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara for RO 6.800 with a free black gel eyeliner. How much more convincing would one want to get this now? 😉

A Bit of Shopping

The New Things + First Impression

I did a bit of shopping in last two weeks but they are all random bits so I decided not to do a proper haul post. I will mention them here in pieces though. Let’s start with these two.

Clean & Clear Deep Action Refreshing Gel Cleanser (RO 1.890)

I am almost done with my Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser (Click here for my review about it!) and I wanted something to replace it. First I thought to repurchase it but then I saw Clean & Clear one and thought to give it a try. So far it has been amazing. It is gentle, tingles in a good way and leaves behind a clean skin. I have been using it for over a week now and really like it so much that I have forgot to finish my Neutrogena cleanser. #reminder You will hear all about it soon in a few weeks time.

Wella Pro Series Heat & Shine (RO 2.200)*

I haven’t really spotted a heat protector in any stores here so when I saw Wella Heat & Shine it was a must-buy. My hair is in a bad state right now and the hair fall won’t stop. I thought to do as much as I can to protect whatever is left of my once luscious locks. I have tried this spray just once before I blow dried my hair. The result was pretty good. My hair didn’t go rough. They were smooth, soft and had a shine to it that was never there before. Let’s hope the result is consistent. I will do a post as soon as I have formed a solid opinion.

*You can get it for RO 2.050 from Carrefour

Guys, I might be blogging a bit on and off for the next couple of days because I am having a bit of an eye situation here. Nothing serious, they just need a little off time from the laptop and work. Also, Eid is hardly two days away and things will get pretty hectic from ummm right after I click Publish here, ha. Regular posts will resume from Monday 28th September, if I go MIA. 🙂

Much Love! xx

FRIENDSbw

11947590_10153116612872671_4610006139711670999_n

Hie you guys!

How’s everyone doing? I hope everyone had a good weekend and start of the week. I wanted to do a serious post but then I got lazy and thought of doing a chatty one instead where I just share stuff that’s been going on with me. Well there hasn’t been much except me staying at home mostly and scrubbing the house clean all day errrdayy. In between all that there have been a few things that make me believe I have a life.

For starters I have got back into reading. I was in a reading slump but now it’s all good. I am going to pop a post tomorrow so watch this space. 😀

Music wise there are some songs I have been listening to on repeat. Pretty Little Liar’s soundtrack has been on fleek this season. They had such amazing tracks but Give Us a Little Love by Fallulah have been the best. Good For You by Selena Gomez ft. A$AP Rocky is another one of my favorite these days. I love how sexy Selena’s voice is in this song and A$AP’s part is super cool. One Direction came out with their new single Drag Me Down which is nice too. I saw the video and Louis looks *insert HUGE heart eye emoji* super love. I also gave a listen to Lana Del Rey’s single High By The Beach. It’s similar to all her other numbers but I still like it plus she looks fabulous in the video.

Fashion wise Dungarees are back in trend. *8 years old me is doing the happy dance in one right now* I love the causal/comfy look. I am all about that life lol. I can’t stop drooling over all the different styles and cuts. I am extremely tempted to order them all but momma can’t afford right now, kiddos, ha. xD My favorite has got to be mid thigh/above the ankle, side buttons and ripped ones. Ah, absolute dream.

Makeup wise I have been obsessed with the brand Bourjois. I have been swatching there product every now and then when I visit the mall and I am in love. Their blushers and velvet lipsticks/lip gloss has caught my fancy. Fragrance wise I can’t stop thinking about Victoria’s Secret body mists. I want to go there and say ‘one of each please’. One day I will do that.

In other news, I have been missing L a lot from Death Note. I might have an urge to rewatch the anime and movies. I have also been re-watching Friends (yes, I have that much time) and I feel like I will never love another show again now. Not for a while at least. *psst don’t tell Sheldon*

What have you guys been up to?! Let me know in the comments below! 🙂

The Long Lasting Eyeliners – Drugstore Edition

_1425895131503

20150312_063142-2

~Left to Right – Revlon, Essence & Maybelline~

Doing an eyeliner post is just so hilarious for someone like me who has no space at all for it thanks to my hooded eyelids. That however doesn’t stop me from buying any eyeliner I like, ha. Today I am going to share three of my favorites that help this hooded eyelids look a little better. Just a little side note: I love my eyeliner black and I am yet to venture in the colored eyeliner department. I already have my eyes on Bourjois Eye pencils because I swatched them the other day at the mall and they were pretty impressive. I like the color range too so I guess a little purchase is in order.

1- Revlon ColorStay Liquid Eye Pen in 01 Darkest Black

This is my most recommended eyeliner I have been using this one for over a year now; it is still going strong and hasn’t dried off. It is the blackest black there is and has a glossy finish. My favorite thing about it is how strong its tip is. It didn’t bend till day and I can draw a line or flick in a jiffy with it. It is so easy to use. Its staying power is very good too and it doesn’t really budge unless you have very oily eyelids like mine with no space on the lids because then the skin just keeps rubbing against more skin and you have eyeliner all over your lid and also if you love to rub your eyes every ten minutes after putting your eyeliner on. However this has given me a number of great days and it is my party time or a long-day-ahead go-to liner. I think I will repurchase it once this one gives up on me.

2- Essence Stay No Matter What Waterproof Eyeliner Pen in Midnight Black

I don’t know if I have emphasized enough on how much I love Essence Cosmetics. I love everything by them especially their nail polish range. They have such good quality and their prices are so affordable. I got this eyeliner in the middle of last year. After half a year and quite a lot of usage, it is still pretty black. It has a matte finish. Its tip however has bent. Though that hasn’t brought any problem in applying eyeliner for me but I really preferred it while its tip was strong. I might just repurchase it because it was my go-to eyeliner for every day and it last a long time as well.

3- Maybelline The Colossal Kajal in Black/Noir

This isn’t really eyeliner but it can be used as one and anyone who is into pencil liners would really like it. It is very dark but you will have to be careful with it because it’s amazing on the water line but I doubt it holds up that well on the lids. You will just have to make sure you don’t rub your lids too hard when you have it on.

I hope this was helpful. 🙂 Thanks for reading y’all!

Love,

~F x

Review ~ Maybelline Fit Me Foundation – The Best One Out There

Copy of DSC05778

Collage

This took me quite some time but I can say I am finally into foundations. I want to try every kind, write detailed reviews on them and compare them to each other. Let me know in the comments below if you would be interested in something of that sort.

I am a fan of weightless, natural and medium but buildable coverage foundations and that’s exactly what I was looking for while trying different foundation in Centerpoint aisles. I had my eyes on Maybelline Fit Me Foundation for a while now but never got around to purchasing it until recently.

I purchased Maybelline Fit Me Liquid Foundation in shade 115 Ivory. It comes in a thick rectangular transparent glass bottle with the same size black top. The packaging is so sturdy, it slipped on the tiles in my room and I almost scream out because I was sure it was going to break into pieces but it did not. It just got a little dent on the side. I was so happy. It has a pump to extract the lose consistency foundation which is another thing I love about it. Pumps just make life so much easier.

I personally love Maybelline Fit Me foundation and find it incredible. It is extremely light on the face and very blendable. I use about one and a half or two pumps of it. It is quite liquidy so it gives you about two to three minutes to set it before it settles. I mostly apply it with my fingers in a stippling motion and that gives it a flawless velvety finish. As we all know, matte looks is so 2014 and velvety finish is what’s in these days, so I believe this is one of the best foundations out there. I have also tried applying it with my Sigma 3DHD Kabuki brush and that has been good too. I however prefer the latter method more.

It evens out in no time and blurs any acne marks or spots you’d like not to show. It has medium coverage but you can always build it on. I prefer keeping mine medium and more natural so I don’t often go the buildable way. On days when I don’t feel like doing the whole makeup routine I simply just put this on to even out my skin tone as my nose is darker than any other area. I also like to use Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 20 to brighten up my eye area.

Maybelline Fit Me Liquid Foundation comes in so many shades and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a really good quality drugstore foundation or if you are a newbie trying out makeup for the first time and don’t want to go all hardcore yet. I think this foundation is going to be a staple in my makeup stash from now on and I might repurchase it in two months time because I am already 25% through with this bottle, ha.

What is your favorite drugstore foundation? I would love to try some new ones. Let me know in the comments below. 🙂

Love,

~Fx

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipsticks by Kate Moss~

???????????????????????????????

???????????????????????????????

DSC05782 - Copy

1422514924657

It is common knowledge in this part of the internet that I don’t have much experience with makeup but I like to spend fortunes on it. Though there is just one product I like to be careful about before picking – Lipsticks. Ever since buying Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick Lady Red, which was the darkest red ever, as my first proper lip color and practically never wearing it I decided to experiment with colors a little before investing in my first ever MAC Lipstick (and the haul that will follow).

I went over to Rimmel Counter a couple of days back and after swatching (it’s not a word I know but please just go with the flow with this one) almost every lipstick in the stand, I came out with two.

Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate 05 is a pretty pink that is very similar to my natural lip color. This lipstick brings out my lips fuller and I can go with the statement – My lips but better, ha. This is an everyday color.

Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate 12 is a bright Orange/Tangerine color that I bought just because MAC So Chaude didn’t suit me and I was very upset about it. I love 12 and sport it more than 05 as I am still getting the hang of wearing Pink. Not A very girly girl. This is a great shade for autumn/winter.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipsticks are glossy and glide on well. I usually apply a lip balm, Maybelline Baby Lips in Quenched if I am in a rush or The Body Shop Cocoa Lip Butter if I have some time in my hand before applying lipstick. If your balm hasn’t sunk in and you apply these lipsticks, they are never staying on, so be careful about that.

These Lipsticks are not very long lasting especially if you’re going to be eating or drinking but if you don’t mind checking your makeup every now and then, this will do just fine with you. The best thing is their price tag, so very reasonable at just R.O. 2.900.

Overall I am happy with the purchase (but my mind won’t stop screaming MAC & Bobbib Brown NEXT!!!!!)

Love,

~F x
