Appreciation Post ~ Olay Essentials Beauty Fluid

Processed with VSCO with a5 preset

Today I felt like writing an appreciation post for one of my most favorite and go-to product ever.

Moisturizer wise Olay Essentials Beauty Fluid – Moisturizing Day Fluid for normal/combination skin is the only one I have stuck to for years. There was a time when I would use it on and off but now it’s the first thing I reach out for in the morning after I am done with washing my face. I got into the habit of using it because of my mum. She is an avid Olay moisturizers user since the very start and her skin is super soft due to it till date.

Olay Essentials Beauty Fluid is an extremely light weight formula. It goes on the skin effortlessly and sinks in super quick. It leaves the skin soft, glowing and hydrated for hours. A coin size amount is enough to work its magic.

Here are some ways I like using it in my daily routine:

Home facials – I like to take two coin size amount of it and massage it all over my face. It softens the skin which makes it ideal for an exfoliating session right afterwards.

With facial oils – I like to mix a few drops of any facial oil I am using with a coin size amount of Olay Essential Beauty Fluid and massage it all over my face before going to bed. I wake up with super soft and smooth skin and lighter face marks the next day.

Primer Alternative – I have used this beauty fluid as a primer for quite a while and still do. Its non greasy formula is always great in giving me a smooth canvas (I am being fancy so read ‘skin’) for my makeup later.

With Foundation – Sometimes when I don’t want any foundation on but also want to blur out any acne or scars I take a pea size amount of my foundation and mix it with a coin size amount of Olay Essential Beauty Fluid and apply it all over the face. This works wonderfully as it achieves the blurring effect, gives my face a very no makeup look and I feel like there is nothing at all on my skin.

No Nighttime Routine – when I am not following any nighttime skincare routine or am being too lazy, I just apply it. It provides my skin with hydration overnight and the next morning my skin is soft and supple.

I love incorporating Olay Essentials Beauty Fluid in my daily routine any way I can because the end result is always marvelous. I can never suggest this moisturizer enough. It is one of the best multifunctional products that are out there in the market. Give it a go yourself. I am sure you won’t be disappointed. 🙂

Best Friends Forever

Best Friends

I am spending the day with my best friend Rizi. We haven’t met in over four months and we don’t talk over the phone much either but right now we are talking non-stop and it feels like no time has passed between the last time I met her and today. You need friends like that in your life. People who don’t make you feel like friendship is an obligation. Though I do get annoyed because four months without seeing her face is an awful lot of time. I am lecturing her about it currently. I will go off before she starts taking it lightly. 😛

PS. Major food consuming session happening. #TeamFoodie

Fitness Diary: January

NYR - Fitness (famtaq.com) final.jpg

I didn’t make a very elaborate resolution list this year because 1) I didn’t have the time to and 2) situations always change. So I thought to stick with the most basic things I would like to achieve and adjust accordingly. My first priority this year is towards my fitness. A few weeks back I wrote about my muscle injury that occurred last year. (Click here to read) I thought maybe you guys will be interested in reading how I plan to get back into my routine.

I would like to state here that I am not a professional and I am still very much a beginner. I have never followed a fitness plan through. I would achieve a certain goal and then just let myself lose which is the worst thing one can do. My only aim is to write about positive and healthy fitness methods that I personally follow. So if you’re someone who made a commitment to their fitness at the start of this year, stick around. I plan to share quite a bit of my fitness journey here and maybe that might inspire you to stay focused, motivated and on track. 🙂

So, ever since I got a green signal from my injured muscle, I have been looking for ways to get back into a proper routine without hurting myself again. I am being very conscious with whatever I do because the fear of relapsing several times before is still afresh in my mind and I want to avoid it at any cost. Personally I have never been someone who would work out at a low intensity. That just never cut out for me. I was always one of those highly intense working out type and yes I do want to get back to it – but at a very slow pace. Right now I don’t have much of stamina but it will build up as I keep trying.

The Goal: I have accumulated quite a lot of fat and look like Mark Gatiss (Mycroft) in 1800s from BBC Sherlock: The Abominable Bride right now. So my first goal is to lose as much fat as I can. I haven’t decided on KGs I want to lose yet because I don’t want to pressurize myself and end up doing some reckless routine and relapse. My second goal is to work out at least five days a week. Be very specific with your goals because that’s how you end up knowing what needs to be done aka formulating your plan.

The Plan: For starters I want to start off with cardio at least four days a week. I am being very realistic here. My life tends to get extremely busy when I least expect it so the only sensible plan is to walk at least four days because 5km takes an hour and 10 minutes for me and I can’t take that much time out if I have deadlines to meet within two hours at a 2 minute notice. I started yesterday with 5km walk on the treadmill. It left me quite sweaty and huffy puffy which is always great. So I am going to keep to it for at least four weeks that is till end of January. I picked cardio because I have noticed that I lose the most when I am walking a lot. If you think there is an exercise that helps you the most, stick to it and tweak it in intensity every now and then.

The Alternative: Now I do tend to get bored easily so on days when cardio isn’t cutting out for me I would switch to an exercise circuit of my choice. If you Google, you will find a gazillion circuits that you can do. Pick the one you like the most and you feel can push you a little harder. For me I am sticking with Eat Run Lift Winter Guide 2015 that I got for free after registering on their website. It’s run by Rachel Aust (youtuber) and her partner Beau. They are an incredible fitness duo. This winter guide has a great beginner routine that makes me almost die catching my breath by the time I am done with it andI damning well love it.

What are your fitness goals for this year? Let me know in the comments below and let’s get fit together. 🙂

All the very best for 2016, guys!

Happy New Year!!

HAPPY 2016, GUYS!! 😀

I hope everyone had a great start to the new year. I was in bed from 9 PM completing Maktub by Paulo Coelho so I could complete my Goodreads challenge in time. So glad I did or I would have gone bonkers.

Harreh at 12

This was me at 12 AM and I regret nothing. 😛

I spent today with my family. We had Nehari (Pakistani dish) for lunch. My mum is an awesome cook. I have not inherited any of her cooking skills sadly. After lunch we all watched Dilwale. It’s a Bollywood movie starring Shahrukh Khan and Kajol. It was alright. I thought I was over SRK but he looked really cute throughout the movie. Kajol looked pretty. Also, one can never go wrong with their pairing.

After the movie, I came to my room and started sorting, organizing and filing my paperwork. It was long overdue. I have got no further plans for the evening so I am sat here writing this post. I will probably go do more routine things now and maybe bake a cake to have after dinner with family. I hope you all have far more exciting plans for the evening and are having tremendous fun. :)I am really looking forward to how this year is going to be blogging wise. I want it to be awesome.

I am really looking forward to how this year is going to be especially blogging wise. I haven’t made a to-achieve list yet and I will probably make it along the year. I want  2016 to be awesome – for you lot as well. Let’s give it all we have to offer and nail it.

See you guys soon in my next post. 🙂

Lots of love,

2015 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2015 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 20,000 times in 2015. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 7 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

The Anti-Bucket List

the anti bucket list add.jpg

As my last post for this year, I thought to give The Anti-Bucket List a go. This idea was shared by one of my most favorite bloggers Emma from Girl Lost in the City who picked it up from an article by Lauren Laverne in Glamour Magazine. The idea is that instead of writing a long list of things you want to do next year, take a moment and reflect upon everything you achieved in the current year. Now these don’t have to be super high achievements. Anything that sparked happiness in you or made you proud of yourself over the year can be included.

I believe this is a brilliant idea. I have been blogging for about two years and more now and at the end of the first year (2013) I posted a blog about the main things I did that year. The second year (2014) I posted a bucket list/note to self for 2015. To be very honest, I look upon ‘what I did in 2013’ post more often than the bucket list of 2015. I can’t even seem to remember what all I wrote in that list even after reading it several times. I won’t say it was pointless as I would often read it and check with myself if I followed, at least, some of it. I am also not going to say there won’t be a bucket/note to the self list for 2016 because my love for lists is very strong but for now, let me share what I achieved this year. 🙂

1- I worked full time for six months in an electrical engineering company. How mad is that? I never thought I would ever get a full-time job let alone in an engineering company so this was quite an achievement for me. I had a good experience and I learnt so much. Heck, I even wrote a series on it on the blog – The Office Series – a beginner’s guide. It sounds so funny now. Anyway, this whole experience gave me a very good idea about what it takes to be an actual working woman in the real/practical world and if I really want to continue or get back to it in the future.

2- I got over my fear of talking to people on the phone in a professional/business sense. Previously I wouldn’t even call someone to ask for their email address so I could forward them my CV or inquire about university stuff, etc. This year I did it so much that I feel it’s not that big of a deal and I can get better at it with time.

3- I have been blogging for two years and more now but it was always on and off. This year I tried to be a little more regular and even though the schedule kept changing, I am glad I kept writing.

4- I purchased my blog url famtaq.com 🙂

5- I ate out a lot this year. I tried so many new restaurants, food, desserts and drinks that now I pretty much have a good idea what I like and what I don’t.

6- I have never been a very good shopper but this year I made quite smart purchases and would think before I buy/splurge on stuff.

7- I spent on things I really like. Books, mugs, sweaters, sportswear, bags, shoes and yoga mat. 😀

8- I have somewhat spent a lot this year but the thing I am proud of is that most of it was from my own hard earned money. Before this I would buy stuff by saving up my pocket money or my family would get me thing but this was a totally new and exhilarating experience.

9- I saw Ed Sheeran perform live in Muscat. ❤

10- I had a severe muscle injury but I didn’t give up on wanting and trying staying fit and healthy. This want only makes me look forward to every workout I do and effort I put in to getting back to my normal shape.

11- I didn’t waste time on reading books I was not interested in. Also happy that I tried reading more books that I would normally not and totally fall in love with them. The Miniaturist and Girl with the Pearl Earring are two of them.

12- I avoided watching movies and series I wasn’t interested in.

13- I realized that people who have stuck with you from the very beginning and know you for who you are for real are the ones that matter the most. This does mean I realized the quality of friends is more important than quantity of it. A few awesome ones are all you need in life.

14- After completely giving up and not really wanting to work, I tried to get a part time job and succeed at it. All thanks to one of my very best friends.

15- I spoke about domestic violence awareness amongst the people I know in real life over my personal Instagram account. I feel very strongly about this cause.

16- In the last few months, I gave in to the idea of meeting new people again or people in general. I used to be very social then I don’t know what happened and I stopped and with time I turned into a complete introvert. I am still not very thrilled about the whole concept but seeing how I have met some new people and like a few of them, it makes me feel proud that I am putting myself out there.

17- I read more blogs and followed some amazing new people.

18- I started all-about-books Instagram. Follow me, @BigBooksTinyHeart, if you’re interested and want to be bookish pals. 🙂

19- I got over the idea that just because I have gained weight and am fat now I shouldn’t click pictures of myself anymore.

20- I started saving money. It might not be a lot but it’s a start and I am happy about it.

21- I finally cut my hair short. YAASS!!!!

22- I live in Oman. We hardly get good weather here but when it’s good, it’s awesome with fluffy clouds and rain. Last year I was stuck at work while it was pouring and if you know me in real life you would know how mad I am about rain. I was so very sad and kind of prayed to be able to experience Muscat’s good weather the next time. It happened!! I am so happy about it that I can’t explain it in words. Waking up to fluffy clouds and Forks (Twilight reference) like the weather is my absolute dream. And now it has come true.

~

This was my list. Let me know if you write yours too. I would love to give it a read. 🙂

WISHLIST ~ Swooning Over Some H&M Beauty Products

h&m beauty

H&M has come out with a whole beauty range recently and wherever I turn I hear raving reviews about it. Before this official launch, H&M was doing bits and pieces of beauty, skincare and mists but I never heard or read anyone talk much about it. I bought their gel eyeliner once and I wanted to grab one of their palettes that had neutral eyeshades and almost every blush color. I never got around to doing that and I doubt they stock it anymore.

Today I thought to make up a wish list of everything beauty by H&M I’ve been meaning to purchase soon. I didn’t get a chance to go to the store and explore everything yet but I’ve been going through the beauty catalogue and swooning over a few pieces.

1- Concealer – RO 4.500

I love my Maybelline Fit Me concealer damn too much but I was thinking its time I try a new. H&M concealer has caught my fancy. If I find the formula worth giving a try this one will be going in my basket right away. I believe I will be shade Desert.

2- Eyebrow Pencil in Natural Black – RO 2.900

I believe it’s about time I start filling in my mismatching eyebrows as I am very annoyed with their current shape and no parlor has been able to fix them yet. H&M eyebrow pencil seems like a good one because of the little spooly at the end.

3- Soft Eyeliner Pencil in Rich Cocoa – RO 2.900

I haven’t tried pencil eyeliner yet and I don’t see many brown eyeliners so yap prolly will give this one a go.

4- Colored Eyeliner – RO 3.900

What would be my year if I don’t buy a few colored eyeliners? The last I bought was in sparkly blue from Rimmel. Now I am eyeing three from H&M; (left to right) Goldie Luxe, Into The Blue, and Azure Thing. They are all pencils. I might buy one of them for a trail and if I like it enough I’ll probably go buy some more.

5- Eyelash Curler – RO 2.900

Your homie here doesn’t own or have tried an eyelash curler yet and this one seems super pretty.

6- Colored Mascara – RO 6.900

Because why the heck not? 😀 I like unusual things too, y’know! Lolita Purple and Nephrite Blue, I’m coming to get ya.

7- Cream Lipsticks – RO 6.900

I swatched a few of their lipsticks the last time I was in H&M and I’ve been mad about them since. Left to right; Rosehip Jam, Rambling Rose, Deco Ruby and Heyday. I don’t know if my H&M has matte lipsticks yet. Any recommendations will be more than welcome in the comment section below.

8- Dry Shampoo – RO 2.900

I didn’t spot a single dry shampoo in any store yet and now H&M has one to offer so yap I have to give it a go.

9- Micellar Water – Makeup Remover – RO 3.900

This is on my Maybe list. I don’t know how I feel about it yet. Anyone has given this one a go?

10- Spray Travel Bottle – RO 1.900

Because it’s very cute and I want to have it, Nuff said.

~

Is there anything I need to add to my list? Let me know about your favorite products from H&M so far in the comments below! 🙂

Have a nice weekend, fellaz!

My 2-Steps Destress Routine

The blog was very quiet a few weeks back. If you’re following me on Twitter (username: @famtaqblog) you might have an idea why. And if you’re not then let me just tell you myself. I had actually exhausted myself beyond repair. This is nothing uncommon for me. I do that often.

I have a fascination span of a three year old which means anything new and exciting attracts me instantly, and that’s how I end up getting into doing way many things that humanly possible. The problem is my attention span is that of a gold fish. I get bored very easily with a task and once I am bored with something I cannot complete it unless my interest in it sparks again. This is how I start losing focus and get behind my deadlines and my stress levels shoot up. Let me just add here that I SUCK at handling stress. I would have a complete melt down or in some rare cases I would become superwoman somehow and rescue myself.

I had a dozen of deadlines to complete in November. I did finish them all – in the nick of time – and such superb time management left me burnt out. I couldn’t do anything after that and I knew it was time to take a break from everything and just relax for a while.

I was looking for some stress free options to rejuvenate my system but trust me with me nothing is stress free, not even reading a book, which I came to realize is the only hobby I have, and so I didn’t know where to turn to. I tried to look for a thing that interested me in the past and that’s when two things happened.

Clear Out

I am one of the most cluttered people I know in every category. Be it my room, my bookshelf, my computer or phone, you will always find a multitude of items. From a few years I have got into the habit of letting go of things that serve me no purpose and I must confess – I love a good ol’ clear out.

I am doing pretty well at it right now but I am also doing a good job at accumulating more stuff. It’s all under control for now but somehow I am still not satisfied. I feel like clearing out is something that needs to happen on a regular basis and for someone who collects a lot, I don’t do it that often. Anyhow, the one in November gave me some peace of mind so thumbs up to the process. It always helps.

headspace-app-350x333HEadspace-Fit-Journey

Headspace

While I was doing my earlier mentioned clear out on the phone I came across an app I download a while back that I liked a lot. I don’t know how many of you know about Headspace but if you don’t, give me the pleasure of introducing it to you.

Headspace is a guided meditating app. It’s available on Play Store and App Store for free but once you’re done with the first ten sessions, you have to pay for the rest. The free sessions are of 10 minutes each where the voiceover ‘Andy’ guides you throughout. I find his voice very calming and hypnotic too lol.

Once done with the free 10 sessions, you are introduced to their subscription which are quite inexpensive and give you access to a variety of categories; Foundation, Health, Relationships, Performance and Headspace Pro. I am linking the website for you to check out. I personally will suggest you to download the app on your mobile and give it a go. Even if you don’t want to subscribe to them you can always make use of those free sessions anytime you want so that’s a plus.

This app has been a superb help in calming my stress levels. It has also made me aware of my breathing in a whole different light. Highly recommending!

That’s my 2 cents in dealing with stress when you burn yourself out. Tell me in the comments below how do you work your way through stress and let’s get some ideas rollin’ in here. 😀

Last Night~ <3

PhotoGrid_1449551422551

It rained here last night, the first of the season. I was and still am beyond happy about it. The weather was amazing since morning yesterday. It was windy all day and the sky was filled with heavy clouds. I wasn’t really expecting it to rain and I guess that surprise factor added more to my joy. I don’t remember the last time we had such amazing weather.

b4e830aef40f4515e902520656a797c5-1

For me, rain is my weakness. When I heard it raining I grabbed a long scarf because pajama party all day all night #LivingTheJoblessLife and made a dash for the garage. It felt so good, aah! ❤ I love rain; I love being in it, I love the sound of it, I love the smell of wet earth afterwards, I love everything about rain. Some people might say what’s the big deal but seriously when you live in the desert, rain is your miracle.

twilight-movie1

You know what; such weather always reminds me of Twilight, the movie and the book. To be honest, I was watching Twilight when it started raining. I had, okay who am I kidding, still have this tiny little dream of living in Forks one day, ha, because rain lol. I was in fact checking out their Twilight related festival info after last night. Maybe one day I’ll go there for it and experience Forks for myself. It would be like a dream come true. I hope the Cullen house is real and is there only as I loved that house.

I don’t really know if this amazing weather is going to stay or we will have more rain in the coming weeks but I so hope we do. Our summer comes very early and stays for forever. Nice weather and rain doesn’t come our way much often so I am really keeping my fingers crossed for it to stay a while.

It is cloudy today as well and a little windy and I am working facing the window, ha. Hope you guys are having amazing weather wherever you are. It’s the small things that make this life so beautiful. ❤

Much love,

Fam x
