A Bit of Shopping

The New Things + First Impression #2

Processed with VSCO with a5 preset

I recently did a spot of shopping and picked a few things I wanted from a while.

1 – Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara – Waterproof (RO 6.800)

I mentioned this in my last wish list. I wanted to buy new mascara and and settled for Maybelline Lash Sensational because of the raving reviews it’s been getting. I got it on offer from Center Point. You get Maybelline’s Lasting Drama 24H Automatic Gel Pencil for free when you purchase Lash Sensational mascara.

I have used it a couple of times. It’s truly waterproof and doesn’t come off from normal cleanser. I think you would need a proper eye makeup remover. I found it a little clumpy but it settles after a while. I am still testing it out and am undecided how I really feel about this product but hopefully by the time I do a review I would have a clearer idea.

2 – Real Techniques Deep Cleansing Gel for Makeup Brushes (RO 8.000)

Yes!!! I finally have it!!! *happy dance*

I have been after this cleanser from a bit and I am so happy to finally have it. I tested it just once and I am very impressed by the result. It didn’t even take me two minutes to clean my brushes and they came out squeaky clean, super soft and no shedding. I am going to try it a couple more times over the weeks and will report back. Though let me just tell you guys, I am already in love with it.

I would like to give a huge shout out to ‘Makeup Medley Muscat’ for arranging this cleanser for me. Thank you so much!! If you’re from Muscat and are looking for someone who can get you not easily accessible brands and products, I would recommend MMM. They are really friendly, helpful and suggestions are always welcomed. I am linking their Facebook page and Instagram below. Let them know if you’re visiting their page because of my blog. 🙂

Review ~ Essence Get Big Lashes Volume Curl Mascara

Before I begin, I can’t seem to recall when the last time I used Mascara was. It was a good couple of years ago and I was totally into the hardcore Max Factor and Maybelline ones at that time. Fast forward to 2015 and with a pair of immensely sensitive eyes, when I started getting into makeup and buying eye products I was in tears, literally. Anything too strong would immediately make my eyes water. I was eyeing quite a lot of Max Factor Mascaras but one swatch of them and I knew they weren’t going to work for me plus wassup with the crispy lashes man? Like seriously? (I am talking like an old woman I know but please bear with me…) After almost giving up, I ended up at Essence Cosmetics counter. I saw this pretty bottle, picked it up, paid for it and left. Best.decision.ever.

Essence Get Big Lashes Volume Curl Mascara comes in a salmon pink cylinder shaped bottle. It has a curved fiber brush and almost tightly packed bristles. The curved fiber brush provides the lashes with a perfect dramatic curl. The tightly packed bristles help in giving the lashes the most volume. The formula is thick but doesn’t weigh down your lashes. It also doesn’t make them go crispy after a while of applying. The color is darkest black that gives the eyelashes an intense look. It has a similar scent that most mascara’s have but isn’t irritating. It didn’t sting my eyes.

It is not waterproof but it ends up staying on for a good 4-6 hours. It doesn’t smudge and doesn’t lose its curl that quickly unless you are sweating like a sinner in church. You don’t need any fancy eye makeup remover for it. It comes off easily with water itself. I carry it around in my bag and I have no complains about any slippage. The packaging is sturdyyy.

If you’re someone who is just beginning with makeup and don’t know which one to pick I would recommend Essence Get Big Lashes Volume Curl Mascara. Not only is it easy on the eyes but it also gives your eyes the most gorgeous effect.

Essence Cosmetics have a range of other mascaras too and I can’t wait to try them all now. *excited*

PS. I did try to take a picture with the mascara in action but it was an epic fail. I shall soon learn how to take pictures with mascara on, don’t you worry.

PSS. I get asked a lot where I get Essence product from. I get mine mostly from Carrefour Hypermarket in Muscat City Center, Seeb. Their counter is also available in:

Carrefour Hypermarket – Qurum City Center

The Sultan Center – Qurum

Vacha’s Hypermarket – Al Azaiba

And just in case anyone is wondering, here is Essence Cosmetics Oman official Facebook page.

Cya guys later!

A Bit of Shopping

So I have been buying a few random bits from a few months so I thought I’d do a collective haul when I have enough of them because I realized I haven’t done one in a while. I have given all the things a go already so this is more of a haul/first impression post.

Starting from bath, after getting Nature’s Extract Foam Bath in Aloe and loving it, I went back to Marks & Spencer and got another one in Water Lily (RO 2.000). It smells heavenly and works so well with the skin leaving it soft, smooth and extremely silky. It has become a staple in my stash.

I mentioned in one of my last skincare post that I wanted to add a few items in my skincare routine. I went to The Body Shop to buy their Aloe Serum and Vitamin E Eye Cream but ended up buying Seaweed Clarifying Night Treatment (RO 2.400) and Elder Flower Unperfumed Eye Gel (RO3.300). The Seaweed Night Treatment is amazing for acne. I will write a detailed post very soon. The Eye Gel is fine so far and helps lighten the dark circles but it’s not that brilliant. I’ll let this one pass.

Makeup wise I’ve been loving the brand Bourjois a lot. They have some really cool stuff. I purchased their blusher in Golden Rose (RO 5.400) which is all sorts of pink with a touch of gold but extremely subtle heaven. I am so tempted to just go to Bourjois counter and buy all their blushes because they perfect!! Next I bought their Bronzing Powder (RO 7.120* in sale). I don’t know if it comes in different shades because I have just spotted one pack. This is perhaps the loveliest bronzer I have tried. I wanted to get The Body Shop honeycomb bronzer but it was too dull. Bourjois one gives your face a proper glow. Super love it.

I wanted to get back into the whole mascara game. I tried one from Max Factor but my eyes are not used to the crispy feeling yet. I was looking for less crispy/gentle mascara. I went to Essence counter and tried their Get Big Lashes Volume Curl (RO 1.200). I have been enjoying this mascara a lot. It gives your lashes a proper curl and keeps them in place but doesn’t go extremely crispy. Definitely something I will repurchase. I think Essence has other mascara too so I’ll proper need to check them out too.

Detailed review for these products will be coming up soon in the coming days so stay tuned! 🙂

Leme know what you liked the most in the haul. My favorite has got to be products from Bourjois ❤

First Ever Cosmetic Haul Review

There is just one thing I want to do before this year ends – write a review of my first ever cosmetic haul (Click here to see it) I did back in January and never got around to writing a final impression post. Before I get down to it lets keep a few things in mind; 2014 was the first year I started using makeup. I wasn’t decked up in makeup every day and not even frequently but by the end of this year I had read/watched and experimented enough to know a few things.

Now let’s get started.

1-       Maybelline – Fit Me Concealer

This has got to be the best concealer ever. The formula is light, creamy and blends out real well. It has a great staying power as well. I love the extremely chic packaging. It is easy to carry around in your bag and I have done that year around. The packaging is sturdy and I have never encountered a leakage. Because I haven’t used it enough I still have a lot to get through. I am really excited to get done with it so I can buy another one. That’s like one of my goals for 2015, lol. My current concealer is a shade 20.

2-       Maybelline – The Colossal Kajal

Aaahh, the best kohl pencil I have tried so far. It is jet black and lasts forever. It can be used as eyeliner too but if you have droopy eyelids like mine which are oily as well, this isn’t a good idea. But if you want something that will stay on your waterline all day all night long, this is the product for you. I have sensitive eyes and it took me a while to get used to this pencil but once I got used to it, I never bothered taking it off. Love, love, LOVE this. I have already bought another one and am so proud I actually finished off the first one within this year.

3-      Revlon – Color Stay Liquid Eye Pen

This liquid pen eyeliner has been so nice to me all year. I have neglected it so much but every time I picked it up from my makeup bag it proved to be so good. No eyeliner really stays for long on my lids because they are droopy and oily but this out of all has given me the most hours. Also I was under the impression that it might have dried off by now but nope. It has stayed in good condition and I can go as far as saying it has become better. Is that even possible? If you are into trying new stuff but returning to your old ones too from time to time, this is a great liner. Also, of you are a wand eyeliner person and are thinking to shift to pen, I would highly recommend Revlon ColorStay Liquid Eye Pen.

4-      Rimmel – Exaggerate Waterproof Eyeliner (240 Aqua Sparkle)

This gorgeous pencil has been on my eyes more than any eyeliner or kohl this year. Blue is my absolute one true love and I am so glad I bought this. Though I must admit I never went back to buy more colored eyeliner but then again I didn’t buy much cosmetic all year. (Goals 2015 = buy more makeup)

I have used it on my eyelids most and sometimes outer part of the waterline. Never on the waterline though because I was afraid would I irritate my eyes. When I sat down to write this post I realized I never used this eyeliner on the inner corner of my eyes. Another one in the Goals 2015 list, ha.

5-      Rimmel – Lasting Finish – 1000 Kisses Stay on Lip Contouring Pencil

I have nothing to say about it because I lost it before I could experiment with it. 😦

6-      Rimmel – Lipstick Collection by Kate Moss – 084 Amethyst Shimmer

A year has passed and this lipstick remains a bad decision, Hahaha. This time I have even put up a picture for you guys to see.

7-      Rimmel – Salon Pro Nail Polish by Kate Moss 713 Britpop

I love Salon Pro range from Rimmel. The formula is thick, glossy and one swipe is enough to make your nails opaque. I have done a complete post on Britpop (click here) and my recent purchase Rock N Roll (click here). Click on the links to read the deets. 😀

8-      Maybelline – Color Sensational Lipstick – 527 Lady Red

Favorite red lipstick 😀 Color Sensational Lipstick range is really amazing. Lady Red is a bright red with orange undertone. It is so creamy and glides on the lips effortless. It doesn’t flake nor does it leaves your lips dehydrated. The formula is light as well.  It tastes really good too, lol. I still don’t wear it often but sometimes I do and those days are such happy days, haha. I am just not very bold about my makeup yet.

9-      Maybelline – Master Drama Kohl Liner

The last time I wrote about it, it was a one liner – worst mistake ever. I think I should elaborate now. It’s not often (read ever) that I dislike something from Maybelline. I love Maybelline and have a strong brand loyalty towards it but this product was such a disappointment. It would just not appear on my lids no matter how hard I tried. Then its lead kept breaking and every time I would sharpen it, it wouldn’t come up properly. You know right, when the skin is covering half the lead? That’s what happened with me. So upsetting because I thought this would be better compared to The Colossal Kajal. They have some new products out in Master Drama range which a lot of people are raving about but I am reluctant to get them. Let me know if you guys have used the new products and if there is anything worth investing in.

10-      Maybelline – Super Stay Foundation 010 Ivory

This was my first ever proper foundation and I was idiot because I chose it in a color darker to my skin tone. I have no idea now where I read that’s how you choose a perfect foundation but it taught me a very good lesson, ha. I didn’t really like the formula of this one as I could easily feel it on my skin and that is just something I don’t like. I think I would have stuck to it if I got it in a proper shade but alas we would never get to know that end of the story because I gave it away, haha. I am glad I did because my mum got me Bobbi Brown Foundation then, lol.

Done, done, doneeee!! 😀 I have achieved my goal. I am so happpyyy, haha. I hope you guys had fun going through the review and I hope there are more shopping hauls in 2015 because I really love talking about new shopping and about makeup once I am done experimenting with it. I hope you all have great plans for the coming year and may you all find peace of mind and happiness in the New Year. ❤

Lots of Love,

~F x

FASHION ~ Printed Tights

I thought to do a quick fashion post today. Now, I am not one of the most fashionable person or all that shiz. I prefer wearing clothes I am comfortable in and I don’t mind wearing them till they are totally ruined. One of my favorite clothing item is tights and I am famously known as the girl who would wear tights under tees, dresses, kameez and just about anything. I can’t help it, I just feel so comfy in them and they are easier to move in. I can’t remember the last time I wore jean, and yes one of the reason for that is my ever increasing waistline, but who cares as long as you have comfy tights to roam around in, lol.

I went to Max in Carrefour Seeb last week and got meself some printed tights. I know the fashion is almost dying now but having never tried anything exciting other than the basic plain black, blue and white tights I was excited to finally buy some.

(In case it’s not clear – I am sitting on the bed’s edge)

The first one is blue jeggings also known as my usual attire. I love these as it gives you a feeling of wearing jeans while still being extremely comfortable. It is my go-to and on-the-run tights from about a month now.

The second one is an Aztec print tight. The material is thick and seems quite sturdy. I loved this print as it was simple and singular. I usually find Aztec tights with too many prints criss-crossing each other as such a put off so when I found these I knew I had to get them.

The third one is a floral print. I always found floral print to be too girlish and some were just too in your face kind of until I tried these. These are blue jeggings with pink flowers on it and are simply gorgeous.

I am so glad I picked these as they so comfortable to wear and acceptable almost anywhere, ha. I doubt I’ll be wearing anything else now until I am forced by mum. *argues – Dobby is 18+. Dobby is a free elf. Dobby won’t take new clothes*

I hope everyone had a great weekend. Happy Monday! 🙂

Ciao & Love,

~F x

Lately #8

1- Eating

So we got a pack of Guylian Trufflina and I binge ate them because I haven’t tasted more amazing chocolates. This is just half portion of the pack. They are Belgian with milk chocolate filling and are extremely cute shaped. They remind me of Daleks from Doctor Who though. If you haven’t tasted Guylian before, grab a pack from the nearest store. You won’t be disappointed.

2- Shopping

I’ve been going a bit crazy with the whole ‘shop till you’re broke’ mantra of mine recently. I bought meself some essentials this time though. I am thinking to do a collective shopping haul post in the coming days. Let me know if you’d be interested in seeing it.

3- I Am an Old Soul

Once every year I get bored of reading the normal novels I do and nothing fixes me than Jane Austen. I don’t know as to why that happens but it mostly happens in winters. Last year I headed to Borders and stacked some classics due to this reason. And boy I am glad I did so because this year I just went to my bookshelf and got my Jane Austen books out before I became extremely restless.

4- I’m In Love & Always Will Be~

I think I haven’t emphasized enough on the blog about how much I love One Direction and Louis Tomlinson in particular. I’ve been madly in love with him from album one. Maybe it was his mischievous nature that took my heart away or his sass, I don’t know for sure but my love for him is unconditional and endless. When that love becomes too much to handle I distance myself from One Direction completely. I eventually go back to them and that’s when I fall in love with Louis all over again. Let me just tell you how not very easy it is. I don’t know if it’s humanly possible to love someone as much as I love Lou but I just can’t control myself when I see his cute nose and his extremely perfect jaw line and oh those blue eyes – I can drown in them ❤ and when he speaks.. His voice is the brightest I have ever heard. He is such sunshine in my life. If I am having a bad day or stressed out, I just have to listen to his voice and it makes me smile ear to ear. I love this guy so much. *sobbing*

5- In Between News

I don’t know if you remember but a few Lately (Lately #2 – wow I can’t believe it. Time flies) posts back I talked about how much I miss Jamie Campbell Bower and the whole The Mortal Instruments movie. A few weeks back we heard great news that the movie is going to turn into a TV series which is AWESOME. I always find movies ruin books but TV series are always great. Not as awesome as books but far better than movies. Not sure if it’s going to be a continuation or they are going to take it from the start but I really hope they don’t change anyone from the cast because it was perfect and I do hope they make it as per the book completely. That’s the only way they can make it a hit because TMI books were really good. I did a review on them some times back to. (Click here to read it)

HAUL ~ The Body Shop Haul Review

Copy (2) of 20140517_131021

Copy of 20140517_131603

I did a The Body Shop Haul post a few months back that was in two parts (The Body Shop Haul – Part 1/2 & The Body Shop Haul – Part 2/2) and had my initial reaction to the products. I am writing a full review on those products now.

1- Peppermint Cooling Foot Lotion

Initially I liked this product and for the first few days it kept my feet cool for quite some hours but later it used to stay cool for first half hour or less and then my feet will be just smooth. I guess in the start my feet were just hungry to get something to nourish them. My heels are always on fire kind of a thing and I was really hoping this product is its fix but it wasn’t, though I did find something that helped. 😀

2- Seaweed Clarifying Toner

My reaction hasn’t changed for this toner. It is really good. It goes on the skin smoothly, sinks in quickly and you can’t even feel it on your skin unless you relate it to the tingling feeling you get when you apply it. It smells so good. I totally love this toner and apply it once I remove my makeup, before I apply my The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil and after I wash my face after a long day.

3- Strawberry Body Butter

Not only has this product proven to be amazing on the body but also on my feet. Yes, this is the product keeping my feet cool. You need to give it some time to sink in first but once it does it keeps your feet cool quite a long time.

4- White Musk Shower Gel

I didn’t like White Musk’s smell at first but I have started liking it a lot now. It’s not your typical female scent. It is quite masculine and perfect for tomboyish girls. Though the smell does not last very long of these shower gels but they are good products to use as they leave your washroom smelling good, ha.

5- Japanese Cherry Blossom Shower Gel

This has got to be my most favorite smell ever from The Body Shop. It’s just so amazing and even though I have a very short span of attraction to products this one has passed the test of time for me. I love using this in my pamper routine and after a hard workout. I really want to know if any of you love this smell as much as I do.

6- Japanese Cherry Blossom Body Lotion

I bought it because of the smell only and this mini bottle stays in my handbag now. It’s not creamy but very liquidy. It smells amazing but doesn’t leave your hand very moisturized which is a negative for me. I wash my hands too often due to which they become very dry and so I prefer using hand creams that are really hydrating.

7- Cocoa Butter Lip Care Stick

I have never liked the idea of a lip balm but this has totally changed my opinion on them and now I see myself stocking up on as many different lip balms as I can from every store. This is a very cool thing to apply to your lips before you use your lipstick. It keeps your lips hydrated under it. It lasts really long and is my companion in office on my no makeup days. Plus winter is coming and I cannot recommend you a better product. It smells and tastes (yes!) amazing and lasts a very long time. Though don’t go overboard with it by layering it too much because it tends to go greasy that way. One or two layer will do.

Do let me know if you’ve tried any of the above products and how was your experience with them.

Please don’t be a silent reader and leave a comment or two if like/dislike what you read.

Have a good day, guys! 🙂

A Bit of Shopping

A BIT OF SHOPPING #3 ~ The Body Shop Mini Haul

The Body Shop Mini Haul

The shops in Muscat are on sale these days thanks to the upcoming National Day. I sneaked into The Body Shop to have a little peak. The store is offering amazing discounts and I got my hands on a few lovely items. Two of them were mentioned in My Pamper Routine (Click Here)

1- The Body Shop Seaweed Ionic Clay Mask

I mentioned it in a recent wishlist i did. (Click here to see it) I was desperate to get my hands on it as I’ve heard such rave reviews about it. I tried it on my hand while I was in the shop and liked its feel. Some people say it smells pungent but it smells just fine. Don’t judge it by its Tester. Testers always smell odd. If I were to judge on it I wouldn’t have ever bought The Body Shop Strawberry Body Butter which smells amazing in real but its Tester always smells gross.

I have tried the mask on a couple of times and I have stuff to say about it. A review will be coming up soon so stay tuned! 😀

2- The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream

I am already using the Overnight Serum-in-Oil from this range. So when I started looking to try a new moisturizer I thought to get one from the Vitamin E range only.  It smells heavenly and so far its working well with my skin. A detailed review will be up soon. If you want to read my review on the Serum in Oil (Click Here).

3- The Body Shop Cucumber Milk Cleanser

This was such a random pick. It was on half price and I really needed a gentle cleanser so I just grabbed it. Also, I wanted to try a different milk cleanser than my usual one from Olay. Cucumber Milk Cleanser comes in a huge bottle and I think it will last me quite a while. A review will be up soon. If you want to read Olay Milk Cleanser review (Click Here)

The sale is till 19th November and I might go again to have a little peak, ha!

Have a good day ya’ll! 🙂

A Bit of Shopping

Hieee Guyss!!

I have recently discovered I can’t be left alone in the mall with my wallet for even five minutes. I have become a shopaholic. Yes, I do tend to think (read over-think) and contemplate a million times before I buy something (and later sometimes regret why I bought it) but I’d still shop.

I went to buy myself a pair of trainers last month and I have no idea how this all happened (VS had a really good offer I had to avail it of course!! He he) Following are some things that’s been on my wishlist from a really long time.

1- Trainers

I’ve been looking for a pair of gorgeous but sturdy shoes that would be compatible with workout as well as walking/running/jogging. I’ve been obsessed about the idea of owning a pair of Nike so I gave in and got myself these Air Free 5.0. Best thing about these, they can be worn with casual clothing as well.  Expensive as hell but I do hope these last me a really long time.

z Bobbi Brown

2- Foundation

Foundation is such an important part of a person’s makeup. I previously owned Maybelline 24hr Superstay foundation in a shade that didn’t go with my complexion. I actually picked it in a wrong shade. I didn’t wanted to go back and buy the same one in another complexion because 1) I wasn’t satisfied with its application and 2) I wanted to try something else and then came Bobbi Brown. I bought the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Even Finish Foundation SPF 15 in Warm Sand 2.5. I am totally in love with it. It is so light on the skin and really lasts a long time. A detailed review will be up soon in the coming weeks so look out for that! 🙂

Copy of IMG_20140919_175421

3- Scent

With my Cabotine and CH 212 VIP almost ending, I am looking for new perfumes. I think body mists is such a good idea as they are cheaper than the perfume and come handy in making a decision if you want to buy a certain perfume. I am in love with Bombshell in Bloom and want to be certain if I want to buy the perfume hence taking the body mist on a test drive, ha. Angel smells equally nice. To me it smells like Jimmy Choo Flash. Not sure if I want to buy Angel perfume but Bombshell in Bloom is definitely making it to my wishlist.

(The offer  was too good. Buy one body mist and get the  other free. It’s a permanent offer here in Oman. Its on the big bottles too. The variety is superb)

20140919_173939 --

4- Face Powder

I lost my beloved unbranded pressed powder while we were shifting. It was my absolute favorite and now it was time to replace it. I picked up Rimmel Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed Powder in 01. Let me be honest with you. The crown on the powder is the reason I bought it. I love crowns/tiaras. (I sound like Amy from The Big Bang Theory here)

20140919_171405 --

5- Candles

Giving scented candles a go. I actually like the pot and oil thing more but candles are easier lol. Got this from Lifestyle in Lavender and I would just say I am rather disappointed. The smell is too faint and unless and until you are sitting too close to the candle, you can’t really smell it. I think I will stick to Adore. Adore is a little more in price but so worth it.

That’s all there is to the haul. I hope you had fun going through the post.

Please don’t be shy and leave a comment or two and let’s interact! 🙂

Flawless Face On a No Makeup Day (Beauty Routine)

Copy of 20140906_153623

Copy of 16

Do you some days feel like you don’t want to put any makeup on and just wash your face, be out of the house but still have a flawless face? While some of us may be blessed with blemish free and non oily skin, I certainly am not one of them. I have faded pimple marks from when I was a teenager and some of the blemishes I have are quite recent and prominent. Me walking out of the house without any product on and being totally ignorant about is no more possible. Even though my makeup craze has only now begin and I want to use every product I get my hands on, I do have those days too when I don’t even want to be reminded of something called foundation, let alone put it on my face. For such days I have come up with a routine of my own that I have been putting into successful practice.

After waking up and doing my skincare routine, I apply Olay Essential Moisturizer on my face and neck. Olay moisturizer is non greasy, soaks into the skin quickly and works as an excellent face primer. I then take The Body Shop Tea Tree Flawless BB Cream in shade 01. It is of light to medium coverage. It is very lose in consistency so while taking it from the bottle I make sure the opening side is upwards. I take two drops of it and put it all over my neck and face in dotted form. I then spread it using my finger tips. Once done, I take my favorite Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 20 and apply it on areas that need more coverage like under my eyes and some prominent blemishes.

Applying Kajal/Kohl is a very important part for me before I leave home. If you see me without it you will think I had been crying or am sick. So if it’s a makeup day or even a no makeup one, Kajal/Kohl is a must. Once done with the face I focus on eyes and take Maybelline The Closssal Kajal Eyeliner Pencil Black and apply it all over my water line. That’s my eyes done. I then take The Body Shop Born Lippy Pot Lip Balm in Strawberry and apply it all over my lips in generous amount. This leaves my lips soft, moisturized, glossy and pink stained. If I feel like I can do more I sometimes apply Maybelline Color Sensational Shine Gloss in 130 Fuchsia Flash on top of The Body Shop Lip Born Lippy Balm.

That’s my face done as minimal as possible.

What routine do you go for when you feel like having a no makeup day?

Much Love,

~F x
