Lately #14 ~ Summer Edition

1- Summer Skincare

Muscat is experiencing one of the craziest summer ever. The temperature goes as high as 54 degrees. The air conditioning is giving up again and again. It’s horrible. My skin is being more oily than usual. I am keeping things under control by using The Body Shop Tea Tree Facial Wash every morning. It’s been helping in keeping the oiliness/grease away and keeping my complexion stable. I love my The Body Shop Cucumber Milk Cleanser but it wasn’t helping me with this crazy summer skin so I switched back to my Neutrogena Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser. I stopped using it because it would leave my face very dry but these days it is the only product that’s helping me in reducing breakouts and minimizing acne. I use it in the morning before my face wash and then later by itself in the evening. It is not a must that you use it twice a day. I do it when I feel my skin has become very greasy. I don’t like to over wash my skin because it strips off the natural oils.

2- Go to Mask ATM

I have been using Himalaya Herbals Refreshing Fruit Mask – Papaya + Apple – for Normal to Dry Skin. It’s an alright product. It’s quite drying and sometimes I get this intense burning sensation on my face when I have it on. The only reason I am using it these day is because my The Body Shop Seaweed Ionic Clay Mask is almost finished and right now whatever of it is left has turned into proper hard mud. I softened it by adding some rose water and it been working just fine.

3- On My Face

My Maybelline Fit Me Foundation isn’t working much wonders in this summer. It doesn’t stay for long and gets my face really oily. I purchased Rimmel Lasting Finish 25hr Nude Foundation in 100 Ivory a few weeks back and have been experimenting with it ever since. I thought it wouldn’t be that great but it is super good if you are looking for a foundation that would withstand this heat. It doesn’t budge at all. I will do a detailed review very soon because I have got lots to say about it. Stay tuned. 😉

4- On My Body

I am obsessed with Victoria’s Secret So Sexy fragrance these days. It’s a mix of floral and fruit smells and isn’t subtle at all in a very good way. The only thing that comes to my mind when I sniff it is – oh, so very sexy. For me it’s the perfect summer night out fragrance. Totally love it.

5- Obsession

I am obsessed with the idea of doing an extremely huge book haul these days. I mean at least 50 books. Yes, I do know that is far more books than I can read in a year but I am just obsessed right now. I am refraining from going to Borders or any online bookstores these days because I don’t trust myself. I am just going to lock myself in my room and wait this feeling out.

6- On My Cell

I finally got some new covers for my Samsung Note 3. I went to Dragon Mart for it. It’s a good place for such accessories. I am so happy with my purchase because I was sick of seeing my cell in the same covers. Yes, they had to be blue because you can just never have enough blue. I love them both. I don’t know if you can see it but the plain one actually has lines like threads. It’s really pretty in person. Did you see the tiny horns my Sully cover has? SUPER CUTE!!

What have you guys been up to? Let me know in the comments below. 🙂

Love yourself often and enough,

REVIEW ~ The Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Night Treatment

I was eyeing this product from a while but was too broke to get a full size bottle. A few months back I was browsing The Body Shop aisle when I discovered they did a mini size– 15 ml – of the product too for just RO 2.400. How could I resist? It went to my basket right away.

The Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Night Treatment for Combination to Oily Skin comes in a round transparent plastic bottle. The formula is gel and you have a pump to extract it. It has the same seaweed smell that all the other product of this range has which is pleasant and not too sea-ish. I usually take about two to three pumps of this product, one for each cheek and the rest for forehead, nose, chin and jaw line.

I have experimented quite a lot with this product as I had trouble with it initially. I have been breaking out a lot since last year and it kind of hasn’t stopped at all. I was using The Body Shop Vitamin E Serum in Oil (Click for my complete review here) to minimize the breakouts. It works wonders on my skin. So when I first started trailing out Seaweed Clarifying Night Treatment my routine was something like this for the first two to three days; cleanse, moisturize, Vitamin E Serum in Oil and then Seaweed Clarifying Nigh Treatment. It did not work out for me at all. I didn’t see any results. I didn’t give up because I thought the oil and gel combo wasn’t working well together. I tried another routine; cleanse, moisturize and Seaweed Clarifying Night Treatment. That didn’t work out too. I was very disappointed and thought this product isn’t going to work for me at all.

Then one night I just cleansed my skin and applied Seaweed Clarifying Night Treatment right away. The next morning I woke up with a clearer complexion and minimized acne. I was over the moon. Since then that’s how I have been using this Night Treatment. It works so well alone. You don’t need to fuss around with other products. This one’s for all my lazy girls who dread a night time routine but do want a clear complexion and skin.

I love this product and seeing how I am almost done with 15 ml bottle I think it’s time I get the full sized one.

Love,

~F x

Vas Happenin’ ~ Ramadan Edition :P

Reliving some old One Direction memories up there with the title, ha.

I thought to do a rambly post today as I have been missing in action and I find myself obliged to update you guys on what’s happening in my parts of the world. There isn’t much interesting going on.

1- Our internet had some problems so we went 3 weeks without it. It was a very dark period for us. How people even survive without internet, I must ask.

391751_10150965193317671_1091741879_n

2- We got our internet sorted and soon afterwards Ramadan started that means goodbye normal routine and welcome to awesome food every single day ha. Before I forget I would like to wish you all a very Happy Ramadan. I was very busy first ten days. Ramadan excitement, praying, iftar gatherings and all the jazz was keeping me very occupied. I tried to blog but I didn’t have the time to and I was usually very brain dead for anything creative and I do hate to write when I am in a bad mood. Which reminds me…

3- As you guys might know I am a bit obsessed with books, so I decided to make an Instagram specifically for sharing my love for books and connecting with other readers. My username is BigBooksTinyHeart (Click here to follow). I made it I guess on the 3rd day of Ramadan and have been pretty active there. So if you are a book nerd like me, feel free to follow me there and let’s talk books.

4- Because I haven’t been blogging at all since Ramadan started, I am trying to be somewhat active on my blog Instagram page – Username: famtaqblog (click here to follow if you aren’t already lol) – sharing some tips about skincare and anything I like. Though I do plan to write proper posts about everything on here but I have been trying to get my blog Instagram to feel like a human being’s feed and not of a automaton (oh yes I read The Infernal Devices just a bit back and the aftereffects are still there 😛 )

This is all that’s been going on in my life. Now I would like to know what you all have been up to! Leme know in the comments below. And to all those celebrating Ramadan, how has it been going for you guys? I would love to know and catch up. 😀

Take care! Be good! Lots of Love!

New Bag from Call It Spring + What’s Inside It~

I am a sucker for huge bags because I like to roam around with half my house in it. I am one of those people who are always ready for an emergency – an emergency that never happen lol. It’s not easy to carry the extra luggage all the time especially when you start noticing how much it is affecting your shoulders and spine. I decided to train myself with a small bag and let me tell you – I love it. *I can’t believe I just said that*

I bought this bag from Call It Spring in the winter but it’s only now I have started using it frequently. The Aztec pattern attracted me towards it. It was gorgeous and even though I was reluctant but I gave in and bought it. It was for RO 22 but there was a sale going on at that time so I got a good discount like about RO 14.

Even though it’s mini and pretty, my hoarder self doesn’t stop from filling it to the brim. It has just one compartment where I keep the basic contents like my wallet, cell phone, a portable charger (currently using Wintouch PB03 10000mAh which is amazing and works with all cell phones and cables), headphones, a mini lotion, and a mini scent.

It has a pocket inside with a zip. I keep a bit of makeup there whatever I am feeling in that moment. Mostly I keep a lip balm, eyeliner/kohl, pocket mirror, nail cutter and strip of Panadol. There are two more pockets opposite to it without any zipper. I keep tissue papers there. The pocket on the top store cotton buds for the sudden itch 😛 and that’s about it.

A Peek Into My Weekend~

I am not really an outdoorsy or party kind of a person. I like to stay home more. Going to the mall is perhaps the most action I get on my weekends. Though I always prefer staying in bed and read a book, watch a movie or write instead.

One of my other favorite activities to do on a weekend is give my makeup brushes a thorough cleaning. I like to give my brushes a proper wash after a week (if I am applying makeup daily) or at least after every two weeks. It really depends on how much they’ve been used. Sometimes I don’t give them a wash for a month if I haven’t used them at all.

Weekend

I am very fuss free when it comes to cleaning. I like to go for the easiest method possible which does the job as well. I use Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Cleanser for this purpose. I usually just take a brush, put it under the tap of warm/hot water facing downwards so that water doesn’t get into its core or change its shape. Then I just take a bit of cleanser in my palm and swirl the brush on it and then wash it facing downwards. I do this whole thing one more time or sometimes two more times if the product doesn’t come out in one go. I repeat this for all the brushes.

Now that the brushes are clean I wipe and swirl them gently on a towel and keep them to dry on the table in a cup. While I am doing other errands I pass by them and caress them every now on then so when they dry they are back to their original shape.

It’s weird but cleaning my brushes is perhaps my favorite chore so far because what’s better than super tidy brushes that provide you super flawless finish the coming week. 😉

How often do you give your brushes a wash and what method do you use? Leme know in the comments below! 🙂

Hope you guys have better weekend plans than me, ha! Leme know about them 😀

Love,

~F x

Music

So You Are Sad.. Leme Cheer You Up With Music~

_1432455327909

So you are down in the dump and don’t know how to sort your gloomy mood… and you are one of the music types i.e., your mood can be instantly turned around by music. If so, I have the perfect suggestion for you. Download 500 Days of Summer Soundtrack right away.

A combination of cheerful, energetic and slow songs makes for a fun listen. You will get hooked. Groovy tracks (Bad Kids (which I didn’t know would be such a favorite of mine), Vagabond, Sweet Disposition, You Make My Dreams) with some romantic and heart breaking songs (Quelqu’un M’a Dit, There Is A Light That Never Goes Out, Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want, There Comes Your Man) and also tracks that you can relate to on a whole different level (Us, There Goes The Fear, Mushaboom, Hero, She’s Got You High, Sugar Town) assures this whole album is perhaps the most perfect soundtrack there ever could be.

Give it a listen and have a happy day!! 🙂

Girl Online by Zoe Sugg - famtaq.com

1- Currently Reading

I got my hands on Girl Online by Zoe Sugg (Blogger/Youtuber Zoella). A friend got it for me from Pakistan. It is not available in Oman for now. So far I have read a couple of chapters and I am reading it in Zoe’s voice, ha. I can’t wait to read more and give you guys a review! Very glad I got a copy because I was dying of curiosity. All my favorite bloggers are coming out with their books and it’s so exciting. This community is thriving and I am so proud of being a part of it. 🙂

Lindt Swiss Dark Chocolate - famtaq.com

2- Testing Testing

I don’t like to experiment with chocolates because I am a forever Galaxy and Cadbury girl (with except of Patchi and Starbucks) but I tried Lindt Swiss Dark Chocolate this week and it was quite good. It tasted like Starbuck’s Dark Chocolate and I guess I will probably repurchase it (quite a lot from now). I would love to try other flavors too from Lindt so if you have any favorites do leave them in the comments below. 🙂

Maybelline Lady Red Lipstick - famtaq.com

3- Red Lips

I can’t deny it anymore; Red Lips is my most favorite thing in the whole world. I can’t stop trying Red lipsticks from every makeup counter. I love them all and I want them all. Recent favorites include Bobbi Brown Hollywood Red, MAC Ruby Woo and MAC Cherry Lip Pencil. For now, I am wearing my Maybelline Red Lady lipstick nonstop. Red Lips are just my kinda thing.

4- Kurta Obsession

Now this is a complete South Asian thing. There is a Pakistani clothes brand called Khaadi. It’s very popular and kinda high-end. They have come out with some really nice Kurtas and I am dying to fly off to Lahore and buy myself the whole shop. A friend got me one and I still didn’t get my hands on it but as soon as I do I shall keep you guys posted on how lovely it is in real.

Durr-e-Najaf - famtaq.com

5- New on Finger

I don’t really think anyone would know about it but I recently got a ring with a transparent stone called ‘Durr e Najaf’. It’s related to Islamic history and I do not know much other than that Hazrat Ali (R.A.) used to wear this stone on his finger. I love it. It’s absolutely gorgeous and ever since I got it, I didn’t take it off. They say it wards off troubles. Let’s hope that’s true. 🙂

6- Room

I am getting a little crazy with the idea of redoing my room completely. For now it doesn’t seem anything like me unless you count my bookshelf in. I am thinking of doing some home ware hauls and just get my room to look more like me. I am thinking of wall frames, wall shelves, some candles and more books. I can start with a new and bigger bookshelf and a study table that goes with my furniture. Also, packing away some unwanted items for now would be great too. Anybody has any suggestions please let me know in the comments below. I need to make a Pinterest board.

Have a good weekend y’ll!

Love,

~Fatima ❤

The Office Series #3 ~ Sadness

125759802

Coming from someone who always wants more from life, it is not new to me to feel sad after every few days of working about how I am not doing that well. I have just started working as you must already know from previous Office Series post, but I am impatient and want to achieve everything right away which is of course impossible. Due to this sometimes I am sitting on my desk almost in tears and feeling my heart sink thinking I am wasting my life documenting Job in Hands and updating projects list and thinking that maybe that’s all there is to life. If you’re anything like me – just stop. You are purposely pulling yourself down in the dumps.

Below are some ways I try to keep my Office Sadness at bay

1- Clean your desk – I have noticed every time I have such negative thoughts my table is usually full with papers and my stationary is scattered everywhere. It takes me hardly 3 minutes – 5 if filing is involved – to clear my desk which helps clearing my head as well.

2- Just stare at your gorgeous stationary – I think there is no moment more perfect than when you receive your bundle of stationary. I got mine after a few weeks and damn was I happy. The highlighters, pens, notepads, cutters and scissors, staplers, punch machine, box file, I mean everything!! I love stationary. They always make me happy. My favorite is Staple Remover. It’s my Bae.

3- Dive into you work – It is better to not sit idle and dwell on how you’re not doing that well at work and rather dive into your work. There is always something to do.

4- Reminding yourself of the good things – Some routine tasks like filing might get you down but don’t forget the good stuff you’re doing. I personally don’t mind filing but if it becomes too routine-ish it can take its toll on me. I keep reminding myself how much I like my job and how awesome I feel when I start working on Tenders every week. Reminding yourself of something you love about your job every now and then really helps. Sometimes when nothing works remind yourself of the damned paycheck and the bills you have to pay and the stuff you have to shop and all will be sorted. 😛

5- Get off Social Media – log out of your Facebook/Twitter – please. Looking at other people’s achievements and comparing them to yours won’t get you anywhere. Not everybody goes the same route. You have your own pace. You will succeed. It might come a little late but it will happen. Just be patient, dedicated and work hard. It will all be worth it.

6- Take a break – Take a fifteen minutes break. Switch off your screen. Make yourself some tea or coffee. Step out of office to get some air. It will relax you 🙂

One more post to go in the Office Series. I hope you guys enjoyed this feature. If you did don’t forget to come back next Monday for the last edition. Here is the link to read the two I did before.

Living The Starbucks Life ~ Red Cup Edition

Seeing how much you guys liked my last Living The Starbucks Life post, I decided to do another one featuring their festive Red Cups. Whenever Christmas season starts, Starbucks come out with their Red Cups. I absolutely love them and I honestly wait all year for it. Coming from someone who doesn’t like paper cups, these cute cups are my favorite thing about Christmas now.

Red Cup

1- Toffee Nut Latte

The moment I spotted Red Cups in my local Starbucks I ordered their limited edition festive drink Toffee Nut Latte. The sweet taste of toffee melting in my mouth is perhaps what I look forward to in December. It is not a sickly sweet taste as long as it’s hot. The moment it’s cold I can’t have it unless I force it down my throat. While going through the pictures I realized I did not order Toffee Nut Frappuccino this time and I deeply regret it. From what I remember, Toffee Nut tastes milder than it does in the Latte. Have to wait till December now to get my hands on it – dammit.

2- Signature Hot Chocolate

I didn’t keep it to just ordering Toffee Nut this time around. I ordered their Signature Hot Chocolate. I haven’t had it since forever. I loved the creaminess and how soothing it was for my tummy. I can’t wait to have another cup over the weekend.

_1418458202528

3- Double Mocha Macchiato

Like I mentioned in my previous post – I LOVE DMM!! It’s like the best drink ever. I would advice every single one of you to go have it right now if you haven’t tried it already.

4b604794c86ab20417780a5aad2bee39

4- Obsession

I am currently obsessed with trying their Peanut Butter Stack but Chocolate Lovin’ Cake won’t let me. I always go for it instead. It has become my standard order.

What is your favorite drink/food from Starbucks?
