2015 Favorites~

2015 favs

It’s time for yearly favorites *yay* I don’t do monthly favorites so I had almost forgotten about this year’s favorite post too. So glad I read it over at some other blogs and realized I have enough time to squeeze in a post before 2015 is over.

I believe 2015 went by in a blur and I didn’t get a chance to try out much stuff but when I started looking back at old posts to gather my favorites I was amazed. Damn there was a lot. Without further delay let’s get started.

~

2015 Beauty Favs

~Beauty~

I realize beauty wise I got around to using quite a bunch of stuff. I got to use two different foundations, different eyeliners, lips, mascaras and what not. Below are my favorites.

Liner – I am still stuck on my Revlon ColorStay Liquid Eye Pen in 01 Darkest Black. I’ve had it since 2014 and it’s still going strong for me.

Mascara – Essence Get Big Lashes Volume Curl has got to be the one for me. Perfect effect without crisping the eyelashes, what else does one want?

Foundation – Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 hr Nude Finish Foundation because it saved me through the horrendous summer we had this year. Thank you, Rimmel, I am forever in debt.

Lip Liner – MAC Beet

Lipstick – MAC Ruby Woo

2015 Skincare Fav

~Skincare~

I’ve been very bad with the whole skincare department this year. I am just glad I picked up The Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Night Treatment as it had helped a lot with blemishes.

~

~Fragrance~

Spritz wise Victoria’s Secret – Secret Escape Body Mist has been my bae this year and I doubt I will be falling out of love with this one anytime soon.

~

2015 Books Fav

~Book~

I’ve been failing miserably at completing my goodreads challenge this year but I’ve got a few days in my hand and I hoping I’ll get it done in time. This year there has been just one book that I’ve wanted to reach out again and time again – The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton. I loved it so much. I am linking my review of it so you can read me cry more about it in a detailed post. (CLICK HERE!!) My second favorite was All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven, but I haven’t done a review yet so I was thinking to save it for 2016. Oh well. I am highly recommending these two to everyone I know that includes you too.

~

That’s about it, guys. I will see you in my next post very soon! 🙂

Much Love,

MAC Lip Pencils Review And Why You Should Get Them

12

DSC06845 label

DSC06846 l

Makeup is an expensive hobby to keep especially if you love trying new stuff like me. I would invest in basic things (according to me) like foundation, blush, lipstick and kohl, but if you ask me to invest in things like mascara, eyeliner, lip pencils, lip gloss, bronzer I would be a little reluctant. But give me a product that’s a multi-tasker and then we’re talking.

A few blog posts back I mentioned getting MAC Lipstick Ruby Woo as a present and how I would never buy one because of the price tag. RO 9.275 for one lipstick, seriously? Not happening. Fast forward to a few months and my hopeless attempts at applying Ruby Woo perfectly on my not so defined lips. I had no idea how to make it work and the idea of getting a lip liner wasn’t something that would happen with me because lazy AF. I don’t use a hair conditioner after shampooing my hair, what makes you believe I would use a lip liner to define my lips before I apply a lipstick. No I don’t care my lips need them. I would never go that extra mile for anything. Also, they are always almost the same price of a lip stick which seems unfair to me.

Ruby Woo lip pencil hit the market a bit back. I really wanted the lipstick to look good on me, so I went to the store, swatched it, and bought it. MAC Lip Pencil in Ruby Woo has the same deep red shade as the lipstick. The pencil has a defined tip and glides on the lip’s line perfectly to give you your desired result. Putting on lipstick after that has been an easy peasy task. It looks so well done, ha. The best thing about it is its creamy formula. Some days I use it as a lipstick if Ruby Woo lipstick is being too dry.

My MAC Lip Pencil love affair didn’t end there. Last year just around autumn/winter, I swatched a few lip liners from MAC and there were some brown shades I really liked. I was kind of sure I would get them but I have been obsessed with bold lips recently and I ended up buying MAC Lip Pencil in Beet. It’s a berry toned/magenta shade and I absolutely love it. It has the same creamy formula and because I don’t really have a lipstick to go with it yet, I apply it all over my lips and it looks fab.

Now a lip pencil range that has amazing nude and vibrant shades, is creamy and can be worked on as a lipsticks too, is available and you don’t avail the opportunity to use it, would be a very sad thing, really! Do I say it’s worth the money? It so is.

Let me know in the comments below if you try some or if you have a favorite one already. Also, I would love it if you suggest some other lip pencils to me. I heard Maybelline came out with a new range. Need to check them myself.

Thanks for reading, guys! 🙂

I ❤ Autumn

Copy of Autumn

The downside of living in a desert country is that you will only get two seasons: very hot summer and mild summer. For some people this might be ideal but for me not really. I like all the four seasons and there is nothing more I like than to daydream about them when most of the world is enjoying them and I am not.

Autumn is my favorite among the four and the amount of autumnal vibes coming my way through social media this month made me want to write a huge post on all the things I love about this gorgeous season. ❤

Changing Colors

Changing Colors

This is my most favorite part of autumn. I love how the trees change colors from green to yellow and orange. I love how the roads and parks are filled with dried up leaves and the crunchy sound they make when a person walks on them. Sunsets become even more beautiful than usual with the sky displaying shades of deep blue, pink, purple and violet and a trip to the beach is always an amazing idea.

~

Outdoors

Outdoors

I love it when summer turns to autumn and instead of harsh heat we are welcomed by a cool breeze in the afternoon and evening. For someone who works out this is such a great time to leave the gym or indoors for a while and do their cardio outside. I love walking in huge parks that are not stripped off most of their nature. I love it when we can walk to places that are not very far to get some errands done. I just generally like the whole idea of spending more time out in the nature when the weather is being such a babe.

Hot Beverages

After summer and all the cold beverages encircling that season, I love how the choices go from cold coffee/tea and frappuccino to latte, mocha, macchiato, black and green tea. I love drinks so I am always happy when there is a change in that section. I also love how Starbucks comes out autumn inspired drinks like ‘Pumpkin Spice Latte’ and if you’re lucky enough you get autumn themed cups to go with them.

~

Trends

Trends

I love how the lip colors get berry colored bolder and eye lashes become intense than usual. The copper eyelids are another of my favorite thing about this season. Fashion wise I love how everything starts getting darker. Maroon and navy blue colors are such hits. I love those stunning slouchy sweaters and blanket-y yet stylish scarves people start wrapping around them. I also like how everyone starts wearing super cool boots and sneakers.

~

Halloween

I love it how with the start of autumn everyone gets excited for Halloween for real and planning their getups. I like it how YouTube gets filled up with videos and tutorials of new ideas every day. I love the mad obsession with pumpkins too and lovely shots people post on their Instagram.

~

Lights

All the Other Things

These are things that I haven’t experienced yet but love them still. I love how everyone starts talking about and buying new fall inspired candles and fairy lights and lanterns become a part of home décor. I love it when people talk about Lush Bath bombs or put up picture of the lovely effect of them in their tubs.

~

This was my mini love post for autumn. I hope you guys liked it. Now, why don’t you guys tell me what’s your three most favorite things about this lovely season? Let me know in the comments below! 🙂

The Queen of All Red Lipsticks ~ MAC Ruby Woo

DSC06610 la

20150515_191456-1MAC Ruby Woo (famtaq.com) (2)

I love a good lipstick but I don’t wear them at all. I am always very self conscious when I have them on in public, which is very unlike me, so I usually don’t bother with them. There is just one shade I can’t resist – Red. I love trying different red lipsticks from everywhere but I never found any that would beat my Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in 527 Lady Red.

A couple of months back I went to MAC and that’s when I saw Ruby Woo. This is not a small name in the makeup industry. This lipstick has a cult following and is considered a must-have in anyone’s collection. My encounter with it was instant love and I marked it on my ‘I am never buying this’ wish list. The reason was simple; at RO 9.250, I could not justify the purchase as I would never use it. Though that did not stop me from crying about it to everyone I know.

My birthday came in May which was a pathetic affair. All my family was busy with work and couldn’t even make it to dinner and I had to spend it alone with my sister-in-law. She was trying so hard to cheer me up but nothing worked. I was feeling miserable and that’s when she surprised me with a pretty black bag from MAC and guess what it held – RUBY WOO. I WAS SO HAPPY!!!!

Ruby Woo is a part of MAC Retro Matte Finish range and comes in their standard black bullet packaging. It has a very pleasant vanilla smell and taste. It has the most beautiful blues tones which makes it the deepest red there ever can be. Its lasting power is good as long as you are not eating or drinking. The best thing about this lipstick is that it goes fabulously with all skin tones making it an instant classic.

It just has one problem; its formula is very drying so it drags on your lips when you apply it. It’s not that big of a problem but for some it can be. It is nothing you can’t work out. I have noticed that if I am taking care of my lips which mean they are well scrubbed or I am using lip balm every day, it glides on without dragging. But if you are a lazy bum, that I am mostly, and lip prep session is never in your routine, this will be a bummer. I am linking a post written by Fatima from Lipsticks and Coffee. She recently wrote about Ruby Woo and has a good tip to share. Click here to read it! 🙂

If you are into red lips you need to buy Ruby Woo. If you’ve swatched it, I assure you there is no dupe that would ever satisfy you just as much as the original. It is such a unique color and deserves all the hype it gets.

I want to thank my sister-in-law so very much for this gorgeous present. If it were to me I know it would have still been on that wish list but thanks to her, I own it now and rock it (ft. in my bedroom with DJ Snapchat).

FOTD ~ Autumn Edition

I don’t do Face of the Day posts often because I don’t usually switch up my makeup that much but with the slight change in Muscat’s weather and lots of autumnal feels coming my way through YouTube and Instagram, I was feeling excited and decided to do my makeup a bit differently. Most of the products I am using are stuff I bought recently and haven’t spoken about yet on the blog but they will be up soon, doncha worry! 😀

Starting off, I have been trying a primer. It is Rimmel Lasting Finish Primer. I haven’t tried any before so I don’t really have much to compare it with. I use it before applying my foundation and I have noticed it does keep most of my makeup in place for a long time. I don’t wear it that often but whenever I do, it been a good experience.

Next is a new foundation I’ve been trying. It is Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hr Nude with SPF 20. This one has been amazing on my skin. As the summer was horrendous this year and my face was basically being an oil zone, this foundation gave me a medium to full coverage and lasted as the name suggests for a whole day without budging. Our autumn is going to be summer only but a little less sweaty so I am sticking with this foundation. I take a pump of it and spread it all over my face using my fingers tips. I am being super lazy so my face brush is getting a bit of time off this season.

I am not doing anything special with the cheeks except bronzing them. I have picked up my favorite Bourjois Delice de Poudre Bronzing Powder in shade 51. It brings such a radiant glow to the face. Bronzers send off such autumnal vibes and in my opinion this one is the best so far. I use MAC 168 to do my cheeks and later take it up my forehead and down my jaw line. This is perhaps my most favorite step and this brush from MAC is meant for it.

I picked up NYX Show Girl eye shadow recently and that’s all I have been using this past week. I love it so much. It is such a beautiful shade of copper and it makes my eyes look so pretty. I use my MAC 217 and swipe the color all over my lid and that’s about as much as I can do with an eye shadow or an eye shadow brush. 😛

I am skipping mascara and eyeliner these days and have been using just a kohl liner for my waterline.

Finally for lips I am going bold and what better bold than red. My sister in law got me MAC Ruby Woo for my birthday (I am sorry I haven’t blogged about it in 4 months) and I have been using it on end ever since. I doubt I am ever taking it off.

What makeup products are you using this season? Let me know in the comments below! 🙂

PS – Please don’t feel shy in commenting and talking. I love to read what you guys are up to too. 🙂

A Peek Into My Weekend~

I am not really an outdoorsy or party kind of a person. I like to stay home more. Going to the mall is perhaps the most action I get on my weekends. Though I always prefer staying in bed and read a book, watch a movie or write instead.

One of my other favorite activities to do on a weekend is give my makeup brushes a thorough cleaning. I like to give my brushes a proper wash after a week (if I am applying makeup daily) or at least after every two weeks. It really depends on how much they’ve been used. Sometimes I don’t give them a wash for a month if I haven’t used them at all.

Weekend

I am very fuss free when it comes to cleaning. I like to go for the easiest method possible which does the job as well. I use Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Cleanser for this purpose. I usually just take a brush, put it under the tap of warm/hot water facing downwards so that water doesn’t get into its core or change its shape. Then I just take a bit of cleanser in my palm and swirl the brush on it and then wash it facing downwards. I do this whole thing one more time or sometimes two more times if the product doesn’t come out in one go. I repeat this for all the brushes.

Now that the brushes are clean I wipe and swirl them gently on a towel and keep them to dry on the table in a cup. While I am doing other errands I pass by them and caress them every now on then so when they dry they are back to their original shape.

It’s weird but cleaning my brushes is perhaps my favorite chore so far because what’s better than super tidy brushes that provide you super flawless finish the coming week. 😉

How often do you give your brushes a wash and what method do you use? Leme know in the comments below! 🙂

Hope you guys have better weekend plans than me, ha! Leme know about them 😀

Love,

Girl Online by Zoe Sugg - famtaq.com

1- Currently Reading

I got my hands on Girl Online by Zoe Sugg (Blogger/Youtuber Zoella). A friend got it for me from Pakistan. It is not available in Oman for now. So far I have read a couple of chapters and I am reading it in Zoe’s voice, ha. I can’t wait to read more and give you guys a review! Very glad I got a copy because I was dying of curiosity. All my favorite bloggers are coming out with their books and it’s so exciting. This community is thriving and I am so proud of being a part of it. 🙂

Lindt Swiss Dark Chocolate - famtaq.com

2- Testing Testing

I don’t like to experiment with chocolates because I am a forever Galaxy and Cadbury girl (with except of Patchi and Starbucks) but I tried Lindt Swiss Dark Chocolate this week and it was quite good. It tasted like Starbuck’s Dark Chocolate and I guess I will probably repurchase it (quite a lot from now). I would love to try other flavors too from Lindt so if you have any favorites do leave them in the comments below. 🙂

Maybelline Lady Red Lipstick - famtaq.com

3- Red Lips

I can’t deny it anymore; Red Lips is my most favorite thing in the whole world. I can’t stop trying Red lipsticks from every makeup counter. I love them all and I want them all. Recent favorites include Bobbi Brown Hollywood Red, MAC Ruby Woo and MAC Cherry Lip Pencil. For now, I am wearing my Maybelline Red Lady lipstick nonstop. Red Lips are just my kinda thing.

Khaadi - famtaq.com

4- Kurta Obsession

Now this is a complete South Asian thing. There is a Pakistani clothes brand called Khaadi. It’s very popular and kinda high-end. They have come out with some really nice Kurtas and I am dying to fly off to Lahore and buy myself the whole shop. A friend got me one and I still didn’t get my hands on it but as soon as I do I shall keep you guys posted on how lovely it is in real.

Durr-e-Najaf - famtaq.com

5- New on Finger

I don’t really think anyone would know about it but I recently got a ring with a transparent stone called ‘Durr e Najaf’. It’s related to Islamic history and I do not know much other than that Hazrat Ali (R.A.) used to wear this stone on his finger. I love it. It’s absolutely gorgeous and ever since I got it, I didn’t take it off. They say it wards off troubles. Let’s hope that’s true. 🙂

6- Room

I am getting a little crazy with the idea of redoing my room completely. For now it doesn’t seem anything like me unless you count my bookshelf in. I am thinking of doing some home ware hauls and just get my room to look more like me. I am thinking of wall frames, wall shelves, some candles and more books. I can start with a new and bigger bookshelf and a study table that goes with my furniture. Also, packing away some unwanted items for now would be great too. Anybody has any suggestions please let me know in the comments below. I need to make a Pinterest board.

Have a good weekend y’ll!

Love,

~Fatima ❤

A Little Update from My Makeup Brush Collection~

1421518960368

I am currently trying to build a basic brush collection (Read – every single brush I can get my hands on 😛 ) for myself and investing in brands that are going to last me a very long time and do the job real well. So far I have bought MAC 168 Contouring Brush and MAC 217 Blending Brush.

As you guys must have guessed from the title, I bought another makeup brush. This time I went for Sigma 3DHD Kabuki Brush. I am a fan of applying foundation with my fingers but when it comes to a well blended and flawless finish, you need to invest in a good face brush. So far this brush has been amazing. Its soft, sturdy and has such a unique shape that makes it easy to reach places you’d have to reach with your fingers only – like corners of the nose. The application has been real good though I need a lot of practice with it as I have no experience with face brushes.

I plan to do a in depth review of MAC brush and this one together soon, so stay tuned for that. Also, I would appreciate if you guys can suggest me which brush I should buy next. I am looking for a blush brush and I was thinking of Bobbi Brown or MAC. I want to go for Bobbi Brown because of course I want to own a brush from there too, ha.

Lots of Love, 🙂

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipsticks by Kate Moss~

???????????????????????????????

???????????????????????????????

DSC05782 - Copy

1422514924657

It is common knowledge in this part of the internet that I don’t have much experience with makeup but I like to spend fortunes on it. Though there is just one product I like to be careful about before picking – Lipsticks. Ever since buying Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick Lady Red, which was the darkest red ever, as my first proper lip color and practically never wearing it I decided to experiment with colors a little before investing in my first ever MAC Lipstick (and the haul that will follow).

I went over to Rimmel Counter a couple of days back and after swatching (it’s not a word I know but please just go with the flow with this one) almost every lipstick in the stand, I came out with two.

Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate 05 is a pretty pink that is very similar to my natural lip color. This lipstick brings out my lips fuller and I can go with the statement – My lips but better, ha. This is an everyday color.

Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate 12 is a bright Orange/Tangerine color that I bought just because MAC So Chaude didn’t suit me and I was very upset about it. I love 12 and sport it more than 05 as I am still getting the hang of wearing Pink. Not A very girly girl. This is a great shade for autumn/winter.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipsticks are glossy and glide on well. I usually apply a lip balm, Maybelline Baby Lips in Quenched if I am in a rush or The Body Shop Cocoa Lip Butter if I have some time in my hand before applying lipstick. If your balm hasn’t sunk in and you apply these lipsticks, they are never staying on, so be careful about that.

These Lipsticks are not very long lasting especially if you’re going to be eating or drinking but if you don’t mind checking your makeup every now and then, this will do just fine with you. The best thing is their price tag, so very reasonable at just R.O. 2.900.

Overall I am happy with the purchase (but my mind won’t stop screaming MAC & Bobbib Brown NEXT!!!!!)

Love,

~F x
