Food, Oman

Italiano is a fairly new Italian pizzeria in Muscat. It is located in Mawaleh next to Al Bahja Complex line while going to The Waves. We went there in Ramadan for iftar one day. The restaurant is quite small and there isn’t much seating space. The ambience is alright. It’s all brown, wicker chairs as well as normal wooden ones, long tables and benches too. The tables have ‘Italiano’ etched on them which I thought was cool.

The menu is extensive and quite impression. For starters we ordered their Buffalo wings and garlic bread with mozzarella cheese. Then we ordered a Penne Pasta. There are a lot of pizza options. We ended up ordering thin crust Philly Steak pizza and meat pizza. No one was in the mood for drinks so one of us ordered a lime soda. For dessert we ordered Chocolate Fudge Cake.

Buffalo wings weren’t that nice but the BBQ sauce that came with it was delicious. The garlic bread was good. I found the bread too soft to my liking. I guess I am just used to having Pizza Hut’s hard bread. The Penne Pasta was amazing. I usually don’t order pasta when I am dining out and this was more of my brother’s order and I ate most of it. The pizza was exquisite both of them and so very light yet filling. The toppings were fresh and my taste buds were blown away, in a good way. The dessert however was a disappointment. I was expecting something much better. The drink was alright too.

We got our bill in such cute little saucer with round cover and an Italian chef/waiter on top. I wish they put it on sale because i wanted to grab one for myself. I can’t remember the correct amount now but maybe it rounded off to RO 12.000 which is such an affordable amount when you’re dinning out with six people.

The staff was okay but they were very caught up because they had a lot of customers and it was getting a little difficult for them to attend to everyone. Also the place is small so if you go there on rush hours, you won’t get a seat and might have to wait for long. I hope they change the venue of the restaurant and get a bigger place and more staff because overall their food is superb and I think everyone should try it. Italiano also does free home deliveries. I will add their number below.

I have been occupied with trying so many other restaurants that I couldn’t make much time but I can’t wait to go back to Italiano for a little more of their awesome pizzas.

Five Must-Do Things in Summer

Even though the weather here in Muscat is going horribly hot – 45 to 50 degrees – I just wanted to send some good vibes out there and do a little summer related / weekend inspiration kind of a post.

1- Pull Those Curtains Back

The first thing I do after waking up is pulling the curtains back and letting the sunshine in. I love natural light. It has such a cheerful effect on the human mind and helps brighten up all the nooks and corner of the house.

2- Be In the Sea

For someone who didn’t get a chance to go to the beach yet, my only advice to you is – grab a set of spare clothes, splatter that sun-block on, get your flip flops out and go to the beach. Get inside the water and stay there till you see the sun setting in and the sky turning shades of orange, red and blue. Yes, that’s all you should do right now. If the weather is good, take out that grill and have a BBQ party with friends. These summer nights were meant for it. ❤

3- Drinks

You must, and I cannot emphasize enough but you MUST try all those amazing cold beverages they offer at every restaurant/coffee bar you go to. My favorites include watermelon juice, orange juice, Lemon & Lime Soda/Juice, a nice frappuccino from Starbucks and Dilato from Second Cup.

4- Go For That Cut

If your haircut is long pending this is the right time to get it. I would say the shorter the better. Get that chin length hair or that pixie cut you have been eyeing from forever or go for that shoulder length with steps and layers that would compliment your face. Just go for it. You will be thankful. Side note: you have some really cold weather coming up in next few months and seriously nobody feels awesome in the morning when they have to fix long wet hair.

5- Sweat It Out

I personally believe it’s much easier to lose weight in the summer than winter because you break a sweat real quick. Even a brisk walk can get you sweating like a sinner in no time. So sweat those extra pounds right now and be a smexy burrito in the winter.

Hope you guys liked this post. Have a lovely weekend and whatever is left of your summer.

Review ~ Essence Get Big Lashes Volume Curl Mascara

Before I begin, I can’t seem to recall when the last time I used Mascara was. It was a good couple of years ago and I was totally into the hardcore Max Factor and Maybelline ones at that time. Fast forward to 2015 and with a pair of immensely sensitive eyes, when I started getting into makeup and buying eye products I was in tears, literally. Anything too strong would immediately make my eyes water. I was eyeing quite a lot of Max Factor Mascaras but one swatch of them and I knew they weren’t going to work for me plus wassup with the crispy lashes man? Like seriously? (I am talking like an old woman I know but please bear with me…) After almost giving up, I ended up at Essence Cosmetics counter. I saw this pretty bottle, picked it up, paid for it and left. Best.decision.ever.

Essence Get Big Lashes Volume Curl Mascara comes in a salmon pink cylinder shaped bottle. It has a curved fiber brush and almost tightly packed bristles. The curved fiber brush provides the lashes with a perfect dramatic curl. The tightly packed bristles help in giving the lashes the most volume. The formula is thick but doesn’t weigh down your lashes. It also doesn’t make them go crispy after a while of applying. The color is darkest black that gives the eyelashes an intense look. It has a similar scent that most mascara’s have but isn’t irritating. It didn’t sting my eyes.

It is not waterproof but it ends up staying on for a good 4-6 hours. It doesn’t smudge and doesn’t lose its curl that quickly unless you are sweating like a sinner in church. You don’t need any fancy eye makeup remover for it. It comes off easily with water itself. I carry it around in my bag and I have no complains about any slippage. The packaging is sturdyyy.

If you’re someone who is just beginning with makeup and don’t know which one to pick I would recommend Essence Get Big Lashes Volume Curl Mascara. Not only is it easy on the eyes but it also gives your eyes the most gorgeous effect.

Essence Cosmetics have a range of other mascaras too and I can’t wait to try them all now. *excited*

PS. I did try to take a picture with the mascara in action but it was an epic fail. I shall soon learn how to take pictures with mascara on, don’t you worry.

PSS. I get asked a lot where I get Essence product from. I get mine mostly from Carrefour Hypermarket in Muscat City Center, Seeb. Their counter is also available in:

Carrefour Hypermarket – Qurum City Center

The Sultan Center – Qurum

Vacha’s Hypermarket – Al Azaiba

And just in case anyone is wondering, here is Essence Cosmetics Oman official Facebook page.

Cya guys later!

Bored @ Home? Hit The Cinema for Vacation~

*no spoiler included*

Are you have a boring weekend or can’t really make up your mind what to do? I got a suggestion for you – hit the cinemas and watch Vacation (if it’s still playing).

Vacation Movie

As you might have read countless times, I am very picky about my movies. A friend of mind decided that we need to catch up and watch a movie together. She chose Vacation and got the tickets before I could say anything. I saw the trailer and was pretty sure it will be a waste of time. Turns out it wasn’t. It was so damn hilarious from the starting till the very end. It’s not your every day cliché comedy movie. It’s an unexpected one. I enjoyed it thoroughly (esp. because they had our mighty Thor aka Chris Hemsworth – now who wouldn’t like that?).

The storyline is very basic. A man is trying to spend some quality time with his wife and two sons and because he can’t afford much he decides to take them to a theme park he went to as a kid. We see the journey, the relationship between them four and get to know them as individuals too. The acting and dialogues were spot on. Fair warning – some scenes are way too hilarious and the whole crowd would be laughing their butt off so if you don’t like that better to watch it at home. Also, it’s 18+. We got to see the censored version and that’s fine by me. I would recommend it if you have nothing else to do with your life or are feeling low. This movie will ‘shake things up’ for you. 😉 Oh, and my favorite character was Kevin, the youngest son. 🙂

Have fun!! 😀

Taylor Swift Book Tag

Taylor Swift Book Tag

I saw this book tag on Katytastic’s Youtube channel a while back and found it really fun so thought to give it a go. I’ll be tagging a few of you here. Anyone who is not tagged but wants to give this a go, please do so and let me know. I would love to see what you posted. 😀

1- We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together – pick a book or series that you were pretty sure you were in love with, but then wanted to break up with.

The Divergent series – It was so hyped about. I thought it was going to be hella amazing but it disappointed me so very much and the third book – I wanted to set myself on fire for matching my nails to the book covers. We are just never getting back together.

2- Red – pick a book with a RED cover.

The Manuscript Found in Accra by Paulo Coelho ❤

3- The Best Day – pick a book that makes you feel nostalgic.

Twilight by Stephanie Meyer and Hot Stuff by Elaine Fox – These two books get me so nostalgic. Harry Potter and The Miniaturist follow closely.

4- Love Story – pick a book with forbidden love.

I haven’t read any book with forbidden love yet unless you want to count City of Bones, ha! I loved the first three books of The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare so darn much.

5- I Knew You Were Trouble – pick a book with a bad character you couldn’t help but love.

President Coriolanus Snow because he was evil beyond measures. (Also because Donald Sutherland is beautiful)

6- Innocent (written b/c of Kanye West!) – pick a book that someone ruined the ending for.

None so far I guess. 😐 I don’t talk to people when I am reading a book.

7- Everything Has Changed – pick a character from a book who goes through extensive character development.

Nella from The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton. She was all fragile and portrayed as a kid but with every chapter she grew stronger and brave.

8- You Belong With Me – pick your most anticipated book release.

I am eagerly waiting for another novel by Jessie Burton. She stole my heart with The Miniaturist. I can’t wait to read her second novel. I absolutely adore this lady.

9- Forever and Always – pick your favorite book couple.

Eleanor & Park – their romance was everything. ❤ If you haven’t read this book already, you must. Right now. Go. The clock is ticking.

10- Come Back, Be Here – pick the book you would least like to lend out, for fear of missing it too much.

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak and The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton. I think I have the most beautiful copies and also Hot Stuff by Elaine Fox because I doubt I will get another copy from any store near me if I lose this one, so nah you are not allowed to touch these books on my shelf. Sorry.

11- Teardrops On My Guitar – pick a book that made you cry a lot.

The Fifth Mountain by Paulo Coelho – I loved this book so much

12- Shake It Off – pick a book that you love so much, you just shake off the haters.

Twilight by Stephanie Meyers of course 😛

I tag:

To All The Books I’ve Loved Before

Emily Reads Books

Have fun!! 😀

Lately #14 ~ Summer Edition

1- Summer Skincare

Muscat is experiencing one of the craziest summer ever. The temperature goes as high as 54 degrees. The air conditioning is giving up again and again. It’s horrible. My skin is being more oily than usual. I am keeping things under control by using The Body Shop Tea Tree Facial Wash every morning. It’s been helping in keeping the oiliness/grease away and keeping my complexion stable. I love my The Body Shop Cucumber Milk Cleanser but it wasn’t helping me with this crazy summer skin so I switched back to my Neutrogena Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser. I stopped using it because it would leave my face very dry but these days it is the only product that’s helping me in reducing breakouts and minimizing acne. I use it in the morning before my face wash and then later by itself in the evening. It is not a must that you use it twice a day. I do it when I feel my skin has become very greasy. I don’t like to over wash my skin because it strips off the natural oils.

2- Go to Mask ATM

I have been using Himalaya Herbals Refreshing Fruit Mask – Papaya + Apple – for Normal to Dry Skin. It’s an alright product. It’s quite drying and sometimes I get this intense burning sensation on my face when I have it on. The only reason I am using it these day is because my The Body Shop Seaweed Ionic Clay Mask is almost finished and right now whatever of it is left has turned into proper hard mud. I softened it by adding some rose water and it been working just fine.

3- On My Face

My Maybelline Fit Me Foundation isn’t working much wonders in this summer. It doesn’t stay for long and gets my face really oily. I purchased Rimmel Lasting Finish 25hr Nude Foundation in 100 Ivory a few weeks back and have been experimenting with it ever since. I thought it wouldn’t be that great but it is super good if you are looking for a foundation that would withstand this heat. It doesn’t budge at all. I will do a detailed review very soon because I have got lots to say about it. Stay tuned. 😉

4- On My Body

I am obsessed with Victoria’s Secret So Sexy fragrance these days. It’s a mix of floral and fruit smells and isn’t subtle at all in a very good way. The only thing that comes to my mind when I sniff it is – oh, so very sexy. For me it’s the perfect summer night out fragrance. Totally love it.

picture: internet

5- Obsession

I am obsessed with the idea of doing an extremely huge book haul these days. I mean at least 50 books. Yes, I do know that is far more books than I can read in a year but I am just obsessed right now. I am refraining from going to Borders or any online bookstores these days because I don’t trust myself. I am just going to lock myself in my room and wait this feeling out.

6- On My Cell

I finally got some new covers for my Samsung Note 3. I went to Dragon Mart for it. It’s a good place for such accessories. I am so happy with my purchase because I was sick of seeing my cell in the same covers. Yes, they had to be blue because you can just never have enough blue. I love them both. I don’t know if you can see it but the plain one actually has lines like threads. It’s really pretty in person. Did you see the tiny horns my Sully cover has? SUPER CUTE!!

What have you guys been up to? Let me know in the comments below. 🙂

Love yourself often and enough,

Eid Mubarak~

Hello people!

A very Happy Eid to everyone celebrating it. I hope you guys had a lovely Ramadan and a fun Eid. Let’s hope we try to continue the good behavior (tolerance, patience, praying) all year round. We just got done with the second day of Eid here in Oman. These two days went busy with guests coming over and tonight we went to D’Arcy’s Kitchen for dinner but they were closing down so we had to go to Hardees instead. *boo boo*

Anyway, I just thought I would do a quick Eid post. I will be blogging again from tomorrow and will try to be as regular as I can.

See you guys around!

Food, Oman

Iftar Deal @ Just Grilled

Just Grilled (2)

Just Grilled (1)

With just eight days left of the holy month of Ramadan, most of us are busy shopping for Eid because y’know some of us never learn and prefer the last minute shopping spree. 😛 which means we are spending quite a lot of hours outdoors and mostly prefer having iftar at some restaurant. One of the things I love about Ramadan is all the fancy iftar deals we have here. Such a treat!

Now if you’re on a lookout to have some good grilled food for iftar, I have just the right place for you. Just Grilled is a restaurant located in Jawharat al Shatti which offers Arabic, Greek and Italian options for all the chicken, meat and seafood lovers. They have indoor as well as outdoor seating. You have a good view of the sea while having your meal.

Just Grilled was kind enough to request me to publish their Iftar offer for you all. Their iftar offer is perhaps what I call the best for someone who doesn’t eat too much and prefers healthy options. Below is their offer:

Iftar Menu @ JG

Mineral Water

Choice of Fresh Juices

(Orange / Minty Lemon / Watermelon)

Soup of the Day or Lentil Soup

Oriental Fatoush

Choice of Main Course

(Please select any one)

Almond Crusted Dory & Rockets

Fish Steak with Onion Salsa

Grilled Steak with Thyme Butter

The meal is for RO 6.900 per person. The best thing is that Just Grilled has partnered with charity organization and will be donating 15% off their iftar menu bill to them. So you are not just having an iftar meal, you are also helping a good cause. If you go there do try their Grilled Chicken with Warm Tomato Corn Salsa as it’s really good.

Have a happy Ramadan you lot! 🙂

My Favorite Victoria’s Secret Body Mists ❤

My Fav VS Body Mists

I was compiling a list of perfumes for an upcoming post when inspiration hit me and I decided to share some of my favorite body mists from Victoria’s Secret. Body Mists are lighter than perfumes but are still worth having. I like Victoria’s Secret body mist more because they come in travel friendly size. I always have one of these in my bag every time I go out. I bought three a few months back and have been using them a lot in rotation and there is still so much to go.

All of these mists have a sexy smell to them. Bombshell in Bloom was the first one I started using. It has a floral smell that is girlish/flirtish sort. I fell in love with it on first sniff – definitely the one to have in your collection for summer. Angel Gold has a musk filled sandalwood kind of tone. It was the last one I started using because I wasn’t sure if I liked it that much but now it’s all I use – perfect for evenings out. Night is what love at first sight would feel like I am sure. As per VS it smells like ‘fruity notes, exotic florals, dark woods and sultry musks’, do I really need to add more? If you buy just one mist then make sure it is Night because it’s all you will ever need.

Have a good weekend ya’ll!

REVIEW ~ Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF 15

Bobbi Brown!! Bobbi Brown!! Bobbi Brown!!

I’ve been attracted to this brand ever since it opened here in Muscat. I wasn’t a huge fan of makeup then and had practically no idea how to apply some but now that I know a few things, the name Bobbi Brown sounds like angels singing in my ears, ha. I would also like to thank Lily Pebbles for deepening my attraction toward Bobbi Brown by writing up a review on Nectar and Nude Collection back in March. I fell completely in love with it. It’s a shame it was out of stock when I went to purchase it and they weren’t planning to restock it any time soon. Anyway!

Bobbi Brown Foundation

I did my first Bobbi Brown shopping a few months back and got myself the Skin Foundation SPF 15. It comes in a 30ml transparent thick blurry glass bottle with a pump and cover in black. I found the bottle extremely classy. Its box was in plain black and had the Bobbi Brown and all the information written in white. Extremely classy yet again.

I got the Skin Foundation SPF 15 in shade Warm Sand 2.5. It’s a tone lighter to my natural skin. I went for a shade similar to my skin but it looked muddy on me hence I went a shade up. The formula is extremely light weight and applies smoothly on the skin. I use my finger tips to spread it. The end result is fantastic. It looks so natural and feels extremely light. It is also very hydrating hence cause no damage to the skin. The coverage is medium but it blurs out your blemishes and any other imperfections quite well. Contrary to some reviews, I actually found it can be built up. Though I prefer not doing that and instead use a concealer to hide any leftover spots. Its lasting power is amazing. It gave me straight 13 hours without unsettling or going greasy on my face. I was over the moon.

When I was on the hunt for the perfect foundation I was looking for something non greasy, light weight and with a good lasting power. I was beyond happy when Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation turned out to be exactly that. At OMR 25.750, it was pricey for someone who survives on pocket money but when I saw the results, I was glad I didn’t go for any other brand. I would have hated buying something expensive and it not being what I wanted.

Another thing I would like to add is, the staff was ever so helpful and friendly and advised me well on what foundation I should go for. They applied it for me in the store and also gave me great tips on what concealer I should go for and brushes I should use.

I would advise anyone out there who is just about as much awkward and shy to ask questions when buying things as me, to get talking to the sales person. Most of them don’t bite, trust me. They are in a better position to help you. Another advice, if you are investing in a high end product, try it as many time as you want till you are not sure you are ready to buy it. It’s okay. I used to pick up products by trying them just once and after purchasing and using them I used to get disappointed. Then I became ‘fearless’ (yes, fearless because it takes a lot of courage to ask the intimidating sales people questions and try products out with them looking at you) and started trying things out in the shop every time I used to go to the mall. I bought the foundation I guess on my fifth trip to the store and trust me nobody killed me for it. So, try and test a couple of times before you buy something.

I loved my experience of shopping at Bobbi Brown. I can’t wait to go back and shop again as I have my eyes on its Creamy Concealer Kit. I just need to save up a lot of money before I do so, ha. 😀

Who is a Bobbi Brown fan here?! Let me know in the comments below! 🙂

Have a good day ya’ll! 🙂
