A Bit of Shopping

The New Things + First Impression

I did a bit of shopping in last two weeks but they are all random bits so I decided not to do a proper haul post. I will mention them here in pieces though. Let’s start with these two.

Clean & Clear Deep Action Refreshing Gel Cleanser (RO 1.890)

I am almost done with my Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser (Click here for my review about it!) and I wanted something to replace it. First I thought to repurchase it but then I saw Clean & Clear one and thought to give it a try. So far it has been amazing. It is gentle, tingles in a good way and leaves behind a clean skin. I have been using it for over a week now and really like it so much that I have forgot to finish my Neutrogena cleanser. #reminder You will hear all about it soon in a few weeks time.

Wella Pro Series Heat & Shine (RO 2.200)*

I haven’t really spotted a heat protector in any stores here so when I saw Wella Heat & Shine it was a must-buy. My hair is in a bad state right now and the hair fall won’t stop. I thought to do as much as I can to protect whatever is left of my once luscious locks. I have tried this spray just once before I blow dried my hair. The result was pretty good. My hair didn’t go rough. They were smooth, soft and had a shine to it that was never there before. Let’s hope the result is consistent. I will do a post as soon as I have formed a solid opinion.

*You can get it for RO 2.050 from Carrefour

Guys, I might be blogging a bit on and off for the next couple of days because I am having a bit of an eye situation here. Nothing serious, they just need a little off time from the laptop and work. Also, Eid is hardly two days away and things will get pretty hectic from ummm right after I click Publish here, ha. Regular posts will resume from Monday 28th September, if I go MIA. 🙂

Much Love! xx

Nighttime Skincare Routine

I am not really a routine kind of a person. I like to use different products that too whenever I want to so following a routine has never been my thing. However, recently I made a little effort in sorting a nighttime skincare routine for myself because I need to finish off products so I can buy new ones, ha. Also because I want to write in-depth honest reviews.

I wear foundation almost every day now so the first thing I do when I come home is take it off by applying The Body Shop Cucumber Cleansing Milk. It is one of the greasiest cleansing milk I have tried and under normal circumstances I would have hated it but this product does wonders for my skin. It takes of the makeup in a jiffy and doesn’t leave my skin feeling stripped off any moisture after I wash it with water. If I have a lot of makeup on my face I first remove it and then I go on a second round with this cleanser just to massage my face and pamper it a little extra. It feels so good and helps fighting any next day break out.

In case my skin is feeling dull and there is sign of breakout, I go for The Body Shop Seaweed Ionic Clay Mask because it is just amazing at fight off acne. It presses new pimples down and makes sure there are no new ones the next day under normal circumstances. It evens out my skin too and gives me a smooth canvas for the next steps.

Next I go with The Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Toner for Combination/oily skin. I take a few drops on a cotton pad and rub it in my skin. I focus on my nose because I have horrible blackheads problem and no matter what I try they don’t go away. I have noticed if I use this toner regularly there are fewer blackheads on my skin which makes me very happy. It is so light and refreshing on the skin you can feel it tingle. I am half way through with this mini and can’t wait to get my hands on the full sized bottle.

Once the toner has sunk in, I take a few drops of The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil and warm it between the palms of my hand. I then apply it on my face dabbing it and later massaging it in circular motions. This product has helped me a lot with restoring my complexion blurring acne marks. I breakout when I am stressed, not eating right or abandon cleansing completely so new pimples keep coming and the marks are increasing. I am trying to combat them with this product and so far it’s working well.

After the serum/oil I go for moisture and my pick is either The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream because it is very light on skin and is quite liquid so you get in a little massage time or Olay Essentials Beauty Fluid because it sinks in real quick and does the moisture job pretty well too. I usually go for oily/combo one but my mum picked up normal/combo this time. It still works great.

Guys I want you to keep this in mind that these beauty products only work if you use them on a regular basis. They are not a permanent fix. If you want a permanent fix you need to take care a lot of your physical health and mental as well. I am prone to stress and sadness and I do try to fight them off but I don’t win every time. Hence I use these products because I welcome a little extra help. 🙂 So far this routine has been working quite well for me unless my internal system messes it up.

I am quite low maintenance still in this skincare department but I do plan to include some more products soon but let’s just leave it for another post. 😉

Let me know if there is a product you would like me to try and review. Blackheads and acne are my main problem so any help/suggestion would be appreciated.

Thanks for reading! 🙂

REVIEW ~ The Body Shop Cucumber Cleansing Milk

I bought The Body Shop Cucumber Cleansing Milk in a recent sale for three reasons: 1) Cucumber 2) I haven’t tried any other milk cleanser other than Olay Essential Milk Cleanser (Click here to read review) 3) It was half the price

It comes in a 250 ml transparent bottle with a black cap. The product is pale green and the texture is creamy but not very thick. It smells of cucumber – like a lot of it. According to the description it feels ‘as cool as a cucumber with a cleanser that refreshes and lightly moisturizes’.

Cucumber Cleansing Milk is a very light formula. The first time I used it, and I had no makeup on at that time, I thought it won’t be able to remove makeup. I was proven wrong the next time I tried it. It broke off my makeup instantly without any fuss and left my skin feeling so refreshed. It also helped with my complexion. I keep saying it a lot how my complexion has been affected and am always looking for products to fix it. This product has helped me immensely.

What I’ve found out about this product is that you can use it in any amount you want. I use it in small amounts if I am in a rush to get into bed and just want to take my makeup off or general impurities. This does it very quickly. If I am having a pamper session or am generally very stressed and can feel those stressed knots behind my skin I usually take more of this product and gentle massage it on my face. It doesn’t sink in that soon and can give you approx 5-7 minutes of massage. I feel extremely relaxed once I am done with it and washing my face with water. I am not a fan of muslin clothes yet and prefer splashing water to take off the cleanser. It leaves my skin glowing, refreshed and hydrated.

The only downside to this product is that it’s actually quite greasy which is a BIG put off for me but this really helps me unknot all those stressed veins on my face and I certainly believe I can put up with the greasiness because of this.

Have you tried The Body Shop Cucumber Cleansing Milk?

A Bit of Shopping

A BIT OF SHOPPING #3 ~ The Body Shop Mini Haul

The Body Shop Mini Haul

The shops in Muscat are on sale these days thanks to the upcoming National Day. I sneaked into The Body Shop to have a little peak. The store is offering amazing discounts and I got my hands on a few lovely items. Two of them were mentioned in My Pamper Routine (Click Here)

1- The Body Shop Seaweed Ionic Clay Mask

I mentioned it in a recent wishlist i did. (Click here to see it) I was desperate to get my hands on it as I’ve heard such rave reviews about it. I tried it on my hand while I was in the shop and liked its feel. Some people say it smells pungent but it smells just fine. Don’t judge it by its Tester. Testers always smell odd. If I were to judge on it I wouldn’t have ever bought The Body Shop Strawberry Body Butter which smells amazing in real but its Tester always smells gross.

I have tried the mask on a couple of times and I have stuff to say about it. A review will be coming up soon so stay tuned! 😀

2- The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream

I am already using the Overnight Serum-in-Oil from this range. So when I started looking to try a new moisturizer I thought to get one from the Vitamin E range only.  It smells heavenly and so far its working well with my skin. A detailed review will be up soon. If you want to read my review on the Serum in Oil (Click Here).

3- The Body Shop Cucumber Milk Cleanser

This was such a random pick. It was on half price and I really needed a gentle cleanser so I just grabbed it. Also, I wanted to try a different milk cleanser than my usual one from Olay. Cucumber Milk Cleanser comes in a huge bottle and I think it will last me quite a while. A review will be up soon. If you want to read Olay Milk Cleanser review (Click Here)

The sale is till 19th November and I might go again to have a little peak, ha!

Have a good day ya’ll! 🙂

My Pamper Routine

One thing I like watching on YouTube is ‘Pamper Time’ videos. I love the whole idea of a good pamper session to refresh oneself after a stressful week or two. I usually don’t get much time to do a complete session because I am either too busy procrastinating or am rushing from one thing to another without a minute’s break. Yes, it is really that crazy in my part of the world, ha. I have however come up with a good routine that I would like to share with you guys.

Now a lot of people like to do their skincare routine first and do the bathing later. I prefer to do it the other way around. I have a reason for it. I am always trying to save time (for no apparent reason other than to gain more time for procrastination) and hence am always multitasking.

Pamper Time (famtaqblog.wordpress.com)

We don’t have a bathtub in our new house like the last one unfortunately but I make showering fun still by trying different products. Hair in a bun, I soak my body first. Taking Marks & Spencer Aloe Vera Exfoliating Body Scrub, I start scrubbing from my toes to my shoulders. The scrub is gentle but does the job of properly exfoliating the body. The fragrance Aloe Vera is refreshing and makes the scrubbing part fun. After scrubbing, I shower and pick between The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Shower Gel and The Body Shop White Musk Shower Gel (it’s an instantaneous decision because I am all about that life) and give myself a quick wash.

Next, I unleash my mane from the bun and shampoo it with Pantene Pro v Classic Care. Then I towel dry my hair lightly, apply L’Oreal Elvive Total Repair Serum in Mask to the length and avoid the roots. I go for the mask right after shampoo because it works as a conditioner too hence saving me the time. As instructed, I wait for two to three minutes before I wash it off. I towel dry it lightly again.

Body towel clad and hair wrapped in a towel above the head, I start with my face next. I begin with cleansing by taking The Body Shop Cucumber Milk Cleanser and applying it all over my face and neck. The cleanser has a soothing and calming effect to the skin. After it is done breaking off any makeup, oils or impurities, I wash it by splashing water. Not a fan of muslin towels yet. Then I exfoliate my face using YC Whitening Facial Scrub with Avocado extracts.

Once done, I change into my comfy clothes and let my hair lose. Securing the front hair by a clip, I take The Body Shop Seaweed Ionic Clay Mask and spread it evenly on my face and leave it to dry. In the mean time, I am either dancing (read Jumping) to one of my favorite songs or picking one of my Essence Cosmetics nail polish and painting my nails. This takes about 15 to 20 minutes and by that time my mask is ready to wash off. I follow it by applying Olay Essentials Beauty Fluid, a staple in my skincare routine, and applying Vaseline Fresh Aloe Body Lotion to my legs and arms. It soaks in real quick and gives a tingly feeling, ha.

To finish off my pamper session I watch a few episodes of any TV series I am watching or continue dancing (again read Jumping) or by fixing myself a snack. 😀

What is your pamper time routine? Let me know if you have done a similar post. 🙂
