2015 Favorites~

2015 favs

It’s time for yearly favorites *yay* I don’t do monthly favorites so I had almost forgotten about this year’s favorite post too. So glad I read it over at some other blogs and realized I have enough time to squeeze in a post before 2015 is over.

I believe 2015 went by in a blur and I didn’t get a chance to try out much stuff but when I started looking back at old posts to gather my favorites I was amazed. Damn there was a lot. Without further delay let’s get started.

~

2015 Beauty Favs

~Beauty~

I realize beauty wise I got around to using quite a bunch of stuff. I got to use two different foundations, different eyeliners, lips, mascaras and what not. Below are my favorites.

Liner – I am still stuck on my Revlon ColorStay Liquid Eye Pen in 01 Darkest Black. I’ve had it since 2014 and it’s still going strong for me.

Mascara – Essence Get Big Lashes Volume Curl has got to be the one for me. Perfect effect without crisping the eyelashes, what else does one want?

Foundation – Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 hr Nude Finish Foundation because it saved me through the horrendous summer we had this year. Thank you, Rimmel, I am forever in debt.

Lip Liner – MAC Beet

Lipstick – MAC Ruby Woo

2015 Skincare Fav

~Skincare~

I’ve been very bad with the whole skincare department this year. I am just glad I picked up The Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Night Treatment as it had helped a lot with blemishes.

~Fragrance~

Spritz wise Victoria’s Secret – Secret Escape Body Mist has been my bae this year and I doubt I will be falling out of love with this one anytime soon.

2015 Books Fav

~Book~

I’ve been failing miserably at completing my goodreads challenge this year but I’ve got a few days in my hand and I hoping I’ll get it done in time. This year there has been just one book that I’ve wanted to reach out again and time again – The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton. I loved it so much. I am linking my review of it so you can read me cry more about it in a detailed post. (CLICK HERE!!) My second favorite was All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven, but I haven’t done a review yet so I was thinking to save it for 2016. Oh well. I am highly recommending these two to everyone I know that includes you too.

~

That’s about it, guys. I will see you in my next post very soon! 🙂

Much Love,

DISAPPOINTING PURCHASE ~ The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Fragrance Mist

The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Fragrance Mist (famtaq.com)

Some of you guys might think that I like almost every product I write about but that’s not the case. I am just mostly very selective with what I buy and there are times when I get something and am utterly disappointed by it. I am doing a post about one such product today.

I started a new tradition last year. I planned to buy myself a birthday gift every year. Last time it was Moulinex Waffle + Panini + Sandwich Maker. It had been amazing and I got such good use out of it. This year I was short on money but I wanted to keep up so I got myself a little something from The Body Shop.

Now if you’ve been following me from a while you would know how much I love The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom range. The smell is so exotic; one sniff of it and my face turns into heart eye emoji. I thought what can be a better gift than the fragrance from the range.

The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Fragrance Mist comes in a 100 ml transparent round bottle with a small round silver cap. The bottle has the whole Japanese Cherry Blossom transparent logo around it. It has the same mesmerizing smell. There is just one huge problem; it doesn’t last at all. I have sprayed it on me little and so much but it didn’t work. Leave the person next to me; even I couldn’t smell it after less than five minutes. I do know mists are supposed to be light but they shouldn’t be nonexistent.

I can’t explain how disappointed I was with this purchase. The saddest part was that I tried it after my receipt expired so there was no way I could exchange it. It was for RO 7.400 and such a waste. I spritz it sometime in hopes that maybe it will work suddenly but it doesn’t so now I just sniff it every now and then and that’s about as much use as I can get out of it.

Please let me know if any of you had a similar experience!

Lately

Lately #14 ~ Summer Edition

1- Summer Skincare

Muscat is experiencing one of the craziest summer ever. The temperature goes as high as 54 degrees. The air conditioning is giving up again and again. It’s horrible. My skin is being more oily than usual. I am keeping things under control by using The Body Shop Tea Tree Facial Wash every morning. It’s been helping in keeping the oiliness/grease away and keeping my complexion stable. I love my The Body Shop Cucumber Milk Cleanser but it wasn’t helping me with this crazy summer skin so I switched back to my Neutrogena Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser. I stopped using it because it would leave my face very dry but these days it is the only product that’s helping me in reducing breakouts and minimizing acne. I use it in the morning before my face wash and then later by itself in the evening. It is not a must that you use it twice a day. I do it when I feel my skin has become very greasy. I don’t like to over wash my skin because it strips off the natural oils.

2- Go to Mask ATM

I have been using Himalaya Herbals Refreshing Fruit Mask – Papaya + Apple – for Normal to Dry Skin. It’s an alright product. It’s quite drying and sometimes I get this intense burning sensation on my face when I have it on. The only reason I am using it these day is because my The Body Shop Seaweed Ionic Clay Mask is almost finished and right now whatever of it is left has turned into proper hard mud. I softened it by adding some rose water and it been working just fine.

3- On My Face

My Maybelline Fit Me Foundation isn’t working much wonders in this summer. It doesn’t stay for long and gets my face really oily. I purchased Rimmel Lasting Finish 25hr Nude Foundation in 100 Ivory a few weeks back and have been experimenting with it ever since. I thought it wouldn’t be that great but it is super good if you are looking for a foundation that would withstand this heat. It doesn’t budge at all. I will do a detailed review very soon because I have got lots to say about it. Stay tuned. 😉

4- On My Body

I am obsessed with Victoria’s Secret So Sexy fragrance these days. It’s a mix of floral and fruit smells and isn’t subtle at all in a very good way. The only thing that comes to my mind when I sniff it is – oh, so very sexy. For me it’s the perfect summer night out fragrance. Totally love it.

picture: internet

5- Obsession

I am obsessed with the idea of doing an extremely huge book haul these days. I mean at least 50 books. Yes, I do know that is far more books than I can read in a year but I am just obsessed right now. I am refraining from going to Borders or any online bookstores these days because I don’t trust myself. I am just going to lock myself in my room and wait this feeling out.

6- On My Cell

I finally got some new covers for my Samsung Note 3. I went to Dragon Mart for it. It’s a good place for such accessories. I am so happy with my purchase because I was sick of seeing my cell in the same covers. Yes, they had to be blue because you can just never have enough blue. I love them both. I don’t know if you can see it but the plain one actually has lines like threads. It’s really pretty in person. Did you see the tiny horns my Sully cover has? SUPER CUTE!!

What have you guys been up to? Let me know in the comments below. 🙂

Love yourself often and enough,

REVIEW ~ The Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Night Treatment

I was eyeing this product from a while but was too broke to get a full size bottle. A few months back I was browsing The Body Shop aisle when I discovered they did a mini size– 15 ml – of the product too for just RO 2.400. How could I resist? It went to my basket right away.

The Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Night Treatment for Combination to Oily Skin comes in a round transparent plastic bottle. The formula is gel and you have a pump to extract it. It has the same seaweed smell that all the other product of this range has which is pleasant and not too sea-ish. I usually take about two to three pumps of this product, one for each cheek and the rest for forehead, nose, chin and jaw line.

I have experimented quite a lot with this product as I had trouble with it initially. I have been breaking out a lot since last year and it kind of hasn’t stopped at all. I was using The Body Shop Vitamin E Serum in Oil (Click for my complete review here) to minimize the breakouts. It works wonders on my skin. So when I first started trailing out Seaweed Clarifying Night Treatment my routine was something like this for the first two to three days; cleanse, moisturize, Vitamin E Serum in Oil and then Seaweed Clarifying Nigh Treatment. It did not work out for me at all. I didn’t see any results. I didn’t give up because I thought the oil and gel combo wasn’t working well together. I tried another routine; cleanse, moisturize and Seaweed Clarifying Night Treatment. That didn’t work out too. I was very disappointed and thought this product isn’t going to work for me at all.

Then one night I just cleansed my skin and applied Seaweed Clarifying Night Treatment right away. The next morning I woke up with a clearer complexion and minimized acne. I was over the moon. Since then that’s how I have been using this Night Treatment. It works so well alone. You don’t need to fuss around with other products. This one’s for all my lazy girls who dread a night time routine but do want a clear complexion and skin.

I love this product and seeing how I am almost done with 15 ml bottle I think it’s time I get the full sized one.

Love,

~F x

A Bit of Shopping

Haulin’

_1433702753290

So I have been buying a few random bits from a few months so I thought I’d do a collective haul when I have enough of them because I realized I haven’t done one in a while. I have given all the things a go already so this is more of a haul/first impression post.

Starting from bath, after getting Nature’s Extract Foam Bath in Aloe and loving it, I went back to Marks & Spencer and got another one in Water Lily (RO 2.000). It smells heavenly and works so well with the skin leaving it soft, smooth and extremely silky. It has become a staple in my stash.

I mentioned in one of my last skincare post that I wanted to add a few items in my skincare routine. I went to The Body Shop to buy their Aloe Serum and Vitamin E Eye Cream but ended up buying Seaweed Clarifying Night Treatment (RO 2.400) and Elder Flower Unperfumed Eye Gel (RO3.300). The Seaweed Night Treatment is amazing for acne. I will write a detailed post very soon. The Eye Gel is fine so far and helps lighten the dark circles but it’s not that brilliant. I’ll let this one pass.

Makeup wise I’ve been loving the brand Bourjois a lot. They have some really cool stuff. I purchased their blusher in Golden Rose (RO 5.400) which is all sorts of pink with a touch of gold but extremely subtle heaven. I am so tempted to just go to Bourjois counter and buy all their blushes because they perfect!! Next I bought their Bronzing Powder (RO 7.120* in sale). I don’t know if it comes in different shades because I have just spotted one pack. This is perhaps the loveliest bronzer I have tried. I wanted to get The Body Shop honeycomb bronzer but it was too dull. Bourjois one gives your face a proper glow. Super love it.

I wanted to get back into the whole mascara game. I tried one from Max Factor but my eyes are not used to the crispy feeling yet. I was looking for less crispy/gentle mascara. I went to Essence counter and tried their Get Big Lashes Volume Curl (RO 1.200). I have been enjoying this mascara a lot. It gives your lashes a proper curl and keeps them in place but doesn’t go extremely crispy. Definitely something I will repurchase. I think Essence has other mascara too so I’ll proper need to check them out too.

Detailed review for these products will be coming up soon in the coming days so stay tuned! 🙂

Leme know what you liked the most in the haul. My favorite has got to be products from Bourjois ❤

Love,

Fragrance, Wishlist

My Current Fragrance Wish List~

Perfume wishlist

I love to purchase a good perfume every now on then. Mine used to last quite a while previously but now I finish a bottle way too quickly. I made this wish list because these are a few I would love to have right now. This is not my ultimate list but someday I will write one. I just need to hoard more perfumes before that 😉

I am a huge fan of Victoria’s Secret Body Mists and I have been using Bombshell in Bloom and Angel Gold from a while and totally love them. I would love to get my hands on the perfumes now. While Bombshell in Bloom’s packaging is cute and girlish which goes well with its floral scent, Angel Gold’s packaging is sexy as the bottle has wings at the back. It smells of musk and sandalwood. Don’t be put off before you give it a sniff. I know you would fall in love too. 😉

The Body Shop Forbidden Flower Eau de Toilette is a limited edition fragrance that I am dying to purchase. It is not your usual light floral smell from The Body Shop. This one is a bit strong more masculine one. Definitely something that is up my street. And time name – it’s to die for. ❤

I recently tried YSL Black Opium and now I cannot stop thinking about it. A very sultry smelling perfume that costs about RO 54.600 or something; damn expensive but would be so worth it.

Carolina Herrera VIP 212 would be more of a repurchase. I love how strong and unique it smells. I kind of want to make it a staple in my fragrance collection. I tried their new edition but didn’t like it one bit. Classics are forever I guess.

Budget Buy – Marks & Spencer Beauty

M&S Beauty - famtaq.com

After purchasing Nature’s Extracts Fresh Aloe Vera Exfoliating Body Scrub a while back and falling in love with it completely (read complete review here) I thought to take a walk through Marks & Spencer beauty section once again. There were hand creams and body moisturizers, bath and fragrance options. The following two caught my attention.

1- Revitalising Mandarin Moisturising Body Butter (RO 3.000)

It comes in a round 200ml tub and the packaging is sturdy because I took it to quite a lot of places in my hand bag. I am not really good with taking care of my things and this tub survived that so yeah! The body butter is white in color and feels like butter of course. It came at quarter the price than The Body Shop body butters which is always a good thing. There were a lot of options but I opted for Mandarin because it was far more delicious than the others.

As we all know body butter is denser than our usual body lotions and is a good way of keeping our skin moisturized. The most famous ones are from The Body Shop. They soak into the skin a little late but after a while they don’t feel greasy at all. They leave your skin feeling hydrated and smelling good.

Now the deal with this body butter is that when you apply it and massage it in, it does not really soak into your skin. It stays on it as a layer no matter how more or less you take. I found this a little annoying because I don’t like the layered up feeling. I don’t mind if a product takes a little longer to soak in but layered up just isn’t for me. It also makes my palms sweaty which makes it quite a no-no product for me.

For people with very dry skin or who don’t mind a little greasiness or the layered up feel, this product would be good. I use it on my legs and feet after a shower (and then skate around the whole house #PerksofTiledFloor). I probably won’t repurchase it and keep hunting for a better ‘my kinda’ non greasy body butter.

2- Nature’s Extracts Fresh Aloe Vera Foam Bath with Added Moisturiser (RO 1.500)

If some day I have enough time on my hands I will sit down and write a very detailed blog post professing my love for Aloe Vera and how much I love its smell. I love it so much that if I found a perfume with its scent I would buy it right away.
My love affair with Nature’s Extracts Aloe Vera range didn’t end with their Exfoliating Body Scrub. The moment I saw this I knew it was going in my basket. This product didn’t disappoint me one bit.

It comes in a transparent bottle with a silver cap. The product is green and is in proper gel form. Just a tiny amount gives you so much leather it can cover your whole body. It smells amazing and the best thing about it is that the smell stays after the shower unlike The Body Shop shower gels whose smell goes away the moment you step out. It leaves the skin feeling smooth, refreshed, clean and moisturized. It is good for dry patches as well. It leaves your bathroom smelling quite good too lol. I would definitely recommend it to every shower gel lover.

So do you plan to take a trip in M&S beauty section anytime soon? I think I will probably go and look for some more shower gels. I had my eyes on a pretty set the last time I was there. 😉

Till next time,

Love :*

Empties

Empties #1

_1428829644686 (2)

Sorry for the lack of posts guys. There is something wrong with WordPress and Omantel connection here. I cannot access a lot of things on WP. Sometimes I can’t even view other blogs and that sucks. I hope they fix the problem soon because I want to get into the blogging zone again and want to discover more blogs too. I miss reading everything you guys have been posting.

For today I thought to share my garbage with you all, ha. I have been saving some of these empties from a while now and that’s absolutely gross but then it was necessary, lol.

Before we start I would like to tell you guys that back in the days I was very careful about what I pick. There wasn’t much experimenting involved. I am still careful but I do tend to experiment now. The stuff I am going to talk about is almost everything I would want to repurchase because they were really good. Now let’s get started. 😀

So I tried Carolina Herrera VIP 212 and loved it. The smell is strong, not very feminine and superb for any occasion. You can wear it on a daily basis or keep it for special occasions and it will go perfectly with anything. It might come off very strong in the beginning but you adjust pretty quickly. I love the packaging and do plan to repurchase it soon.

I remember Cabotine De Gres was suggested by Annayah to me and as soon as I had a sniff of it I knew I wanted it in my life. It’s my most favorite scent and I have worn it so much. I always used to get asked out about it. The sad thing is I went to repurchase it but they ran out of it and maybe another version of it came out and they discounted this one. That was quite upsetting but I shall find it and make it mine one day – like a gazillion bottles of it.

By the number of Olay Essential Beauty Fluid in this picture you might have already guessed my feelings for this product. Non greasy, smooth finish, hydrating – Olay Beauty Fluid for normal/combo skin is an essential for me. I go through a bottle very quickly now because I use it on a daily basis. It works as my moisturizer, primer, day and night cream; it’s basically everything for me. Thanks mum for getting me addicted to it. I have already repurchased it a number of times.

If there is one moisturizer I would prefer over Olay Essential Beauty Fluid it would be The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream. Extremely light on the skin, perfect for dry skin days because extremely hydrating, works amazingly to fix dry patches, gives a boost to your dull complexion and a superb primer. So many good qualities and I can still not make myself to repurchase it unless they put it up in the Sale section because RO 5.700 for a 50ml cream; I just can’t justify this purchase. If only they come up with a bigger tub I wouldn’t mind buying but 50ml is just too less.

I have raved about Olay Gentle Cleansers Softening Milk so much in a lot of posts. It was my favorite milk cleanser before I ran out of it and I found out they discounted it. It was the most non greasy milk cleanser, would remove my makeup in one go, was amazing as a facial routine and was generally very good. I plan to try the new Milk Cleanser they came out with but I doubt it will be as good as this one. Stay tuned for a review on it soonish because I am half way through with my The Body Shop Cucumber Milk Cleanser so Olay will be my next target.

The first time I used The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash I was not really sure if I would repurchase it. The thing is I like changing my face wash after I am done with one or I just buy a new one while already using one because I get bored and I like variety for my face washes. This bottle was very trying. It’s huge (250ml) and took me nearly 8 months to finish. I was frustrated in between and bought a Neutrogena face wash but returned to Tea Tree face wash because IT’S INCREDIBLE!! It smells a little funny in the start but the way it clears your skin after a night, no other product can. It’s very soothing and brightens your complexion. It doesn’t do much for your acne but it does help with oiliness. I repurchased it even before it ended because that’s just how much I cannot live without this product.

YC Whitening Facial Scrub with Mulberry Extract – officially my favorite scrub ever. Gentle on the skin, scrubs in well, made out of natural stuff and an extremely economical price; I love it. I repurchased it in Avocado this time. It smells a lot like Nair hair removing cream lol but love how well it exfoliate without hurting the skin.

I love my waterline black as the darkest night and nothing does that well than Maybelline The Colossal Kajal in Black/Noir. It stays in place for a really long time and is generally very good. Can be used as an eyeliner too but not for people like me who have no eyelid space. I repurchased it the moment it ended. It’s a staple.

And we are done. I hope I did not bore you guys to death because this was a really long post. I never thought it would be. o_O

Until next time,

Love,

~F x

Nighttime Skincare Routine

_1425747693267

I am not really a routine kind of a person. I like to use different products that too whenever I want to so following a routine has never been my thing. However, recently I made a little effort in sorting a nighttime skincare routine for myself because I need to finish off products so I can buy new ones, ha. Also because I want to write in-depth honest reviews.

I wear foundation almost every day now so the first thing I do when I come home is take it off by applying The Body Shop Cucumber Cleansing Milk. It is one of the greasiest cleansing milk I have tried and under normal circumstances I would have hated it but this product does wonders for my skin. It takes of the makeup in a jiffy and doesn’t leave my skin feeling stripped off any moisture after I wash it with water. If I have a lot of makeup on my face I first remove it and then I go on a second round with this cleanser just to massage my face and pamper it a little extra. It feels so good and helps fighting any next day break out.

In case my skin is feeling dull and there is sign of breakout, I go for The Body Shop Seaweed Ionic Clay Mask because it is just amazing at fight off acne. It presses new pimples down and makes sure there are no new ones the next day under normal circumstances. It evens out my skin too and gives me a smooth canvas for the next steps.

Next I go with The Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Toner for Combination/oily skin. I take a few drops on a cotton pad and rub it in my skin. I focus on my nose because I have horrible blackheads problem and no matter what I try they don’t go away. I have noticed if I use this toner regularly there are fewer blackheads on my skin which makes me very happy. It is so light and refreshing on the skin you can feel it tingle. I am half way through with this mini and can’t wait to get my hands on the full sized bottle.

Once the toner has sunk in, I take a few drops of The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil and warm it between the palms of my hand. I then apply it on my face dabbing it and later massaging it in circular motions. This product has helped me a lot with restoring my complexion blurring acne marks. I breakout when I am stressed, not eating right or abandon cleansing completely so new pimples keep coming and the marks are increasing. I am trying to combat them with this product and so far it’s working well.

After the serum/oil I go for moisture and my pick is either The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream because it is very light on skin and is quite liquid so you get in a little massage time or Olay Essentials Beauty Fluid because it sinks in real quick and does the moisture job pretty well too. I usually go for oily/combo one but my mum picked up normal/combo this time. It still works great.

Guys I want you to keep this in mind that these beauty products only work if you use them on a regular basis. They are not a permanent fix. If you want a permanent fix you need to take care a lot of your physical health and mental as well. I am prone to stress and sadness and I do try to fight them off but I don’t win every time. Hence I use these products because I welcome a little extra help. 🙂 So far this routine has been working quite well for me unless my internal system messes it up.

I am quite low maintenance still in this skincare department but I do plan to include some more products soon but let’s just leave it for another post. 😉

Let me know if there is a product you would like me to try and review. Blackheads and acne are my main problem so any help/suggestion would be appreciated.

Thanks for reading! 🙂

Love,

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipsticks by Kate Moss~

???????????????????????????????

???????????????????????????????

DSC05782 - Copy

1422514924657

It is common knowledge in this part of the internet that I don’t have much experience with makeup but I like to spend fortunes on it. Though there is just one product I like to be careful about before picking – Lipsticks. Ever since buying Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick Lady Red, which was the darkest red ever, as my first proper lip color and practically never wearing it I decided to experiment with colors a little before investing in my first ever MAC Lipstick (and the haul that will follow).

I went over to Rimmel Counter a couple of days back and after swatching (it’s not a word I know but please just go with the flow with this one) almost every lipstick in the stand, I came out with two.

Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate 05 is a pretty pink that is very similar to my natural lip color. This lipstick brings out my lips fuller and I can go with the statement – My lips but better, ha. This is an everyday color.

Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate 12 is a bright Orange/Tangerine color that I bought just because MAC So Chaude didn’t suit me and I was very upset about it. I love 12 and sport it more than 05 as I am still getting the hang of wearing Pink. Not A very girly girl. This is a great shade for autumn/winter.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipsticks are glossy and glide on well. I usually apply a lip balm, Maybelline Baby Lips in Quenched if I am in a rush or The Body Shop Cocoa Lip Butter if I have some time in my hand before applying lipstick. If your balm hasn’t sunk in and you apply these lipsticks, they are never staying on, so be careful about that.

These Lipsticks are not very long lasting especially if you’re going to be eating or drinking but if you don’t mind checking your makeup every now and then, this will do just fine with you. The best thing is their price tag, so very reasonable at just R.O. 2.900.

Overall I am happy with the purchase (but my mind won’t stop screaming MAC & Bobbib Brown NEXT!!!!!)

Love,

~F x
